So sir, what's the probability of getting a fully or partially funded PhD offer in the US assuming now that I decided to go for PhD direct without masters.........And also which universities is the best for me to apply without having any research articles that has been published apart from my project which I'm working on to publish very soon.
pdjohnson:

Hello sir, I think you could go directly for a PhD since you're in the biological sciences. A PhD in ecology and environmental biology (EEB) can be useful. Though you might want to gauge your interest and experience in this field prior to applying.
Hope this helps

For going to the US yourself, your level of knowledge and how you see life and your field has been influenced and expanded, and enriched.
If you are to return to Nigeria after studies for work, you will certainly have some edge over those who never left. What did that tell us? There are certainly Americans that can fill those H1B jobs, but an organization that really wants to expand its scope and influence, and not shrink, but compete in a world that INNOVATIVE IDEAS rule, will NEVER limit its workforce to its country of origin -- or it will suffer a lot of disadvantages. This is why it will be IMPOSSIBLE for Trump to permanently ban H1B visa! He cannot succeed in this area, because any attempt to stop foreign workers from coming to the US to work in those organizations will limit their ability to tap into diverse minds, from different countries, for such organization enrichment. This is how it works!

You'll be surprised he doesn't have to, directly

When next anybody here asked for study materials, do your email address, and don't wait until someone ask for it.
Drop your email and I will send you GRE materials; you can check Google or Google PlayStore to download IELTS app for intensive studies.

I was accepted to Stanford University for a degree in Civil Engineering. More specifically Computational Geomechanics. So I can't really say for sure on which schools are the best for Geology, because they're not exactly the same. But I think schools in South should have greater prospects and greater funding for Geology**, most especially Texas and other neighbouring states. But first you'll need to take the GRE, and evaluate your chances based of your university transcripts.

Thanks bro, u have an amazing profile.

Haha, with this information people that know me irl might be able to figure out who I am grin grin

Undergraduate institution: Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti

Secondary School: Obafemi Awolow University International School

I wasn't as serious as I became while in the University (where I actually became passionate about what I was studying) but my WAEC was A1 math, B2 Physics, and B3 in the rest. JAMB/UTME was 262. And no, I didn't take SAT, again as at the time I graduated secondary school I didn't really have a clear picture of what I wanted.

Nice bro, congrats. I am personally impressed. When you come to Stanford, let me know, so I can connect you to Naija and Kenya guys already on ground. There are like 4 naijans in your faculty there, one girl in energy resource engineering, others in elect, mech, etc. Also, we have a top research professor (naija man) in engineering. I strongly believe the naija presence over there in engineering is because of the reputation of this naija prof.

These schools are almost impossible to enter and top grades are not enough - but you did it. Congrats again. Reach out!

APPLY FOR A U.S. VISA IN NIGERIA

On Monday, June 22, President Trump signed a proclamation suspending entry into the United States of certain immigrants and nonimmigrants who present a risk to the U.S. labor market following the coronavirus outbreak. Effective immediately, the proclamation extends the suspension of entry for certain immigrants (Presidential Proclamation 10014) through December 31, 2020. The new restrictions imposed by the proclamation are effective at 12:01 a.m. EDT on Wednesday, June 24 and expire on December 31, 2020, unless continued by the President. U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and aliens who are or were inside the United States or those holding valid nonimmigrant or immigrant visas on the effective date are not subject to the proclamation.

The proclamation suspends entry of nonimmigrants in the following categories: H-1B, H-2B, J (for aliens participating in an intern, trainee, teacher, camp counselor, au pair, or summer work travel program) and L, along with their spouses and children. No valid visas will be revoked under the proclamation. Presidential Proclamation 10014 and this proclamation provide exceptions to their restrictions for certain categories of immigrants and nonimmigrants. In response to significant worldwide challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of State has temporarily suspended routine visa services at all U.S. Embassies and Consulates. Embassies and consulates have canceled all routine immigrant and nonimmigrant visa appointments as of March 20, 2020, but will continue to provide emergency and mission-critical visa services as resources and local conditions allow. We will resume routine visa services as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date at this time. Please see these notices which contain detailed information about the current status of visa services worldwide and visa restrictions related to the COVID-19 global pandemic: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/ea/covid-19-visa-services-and-restrictions.html

Effective February 21, 2020, Presidential Proclamation 9983 suspends the issuance of all immigrant visas to Nigerians, except to Special Immigrants whose eligibility for a visa is based on having provided assistance to the U.S. Government. The Special Immigrant Visa classes that are accepted are SE, SF, SG, SH, SI, SM, and SQ.

However, an individual who wishes to apply for an immigrant visa may still schedule an interview and can disclose during the visa interview any information that might demonstrate that he or she is eligible for an exception or waiver per the Proclamation. A consular officer will carefully review each case to determine whether the applicant is affected by the Proclamation and, if so, whether the applicant qualifies for an exception or a waiver.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nigerian citizens are required to pay a visa issuance fee, or reciprocity fee, for all approved applications for nonimmigrant visas in B, F, H1B, I, L, and R visa classifications. The reciprocity fee is charged in addition to the nonimmigrant visa application fee, also known as the MRV fee, which all applicants pay at the time of application, and must be paid in cash at the U.S. Embassy or the U.S. Consulate General. Please see here for more detail.

You don't need A'levels at all.

GPA is either calculated by evaluating your WAEC certificate or the transcript received from your school.

My cousin's tough visa experience; advise needed.
He got a full funding and had attended visa interview twice but unsuccesful in all.
The first one, the CO said he was preaching her. She also asked him how he could leave his family for 4 years. And what business the wife does.

The second interview after the first refusal, another CO asked him about standard tests. And other schools he applied for. He produced a GRE result that had the name of a school he didnt mention; the result was merely sent to the school but he didnt actually conclude the application. He was not allowed to explain. He was summarily refused again.

Though the funding is still valid and school promised to write the Embassy on his behalf but he said he has changed his mind as 2 times refusal means he will never get the visa again.
