WTF! I never associated ofe akwu with banga soup

Now that you've said it, ofe akwu is the poor quality version of Banga soup. Most Igbo native soup are overhyped

I will suggest when you introduce these dishes you should also give credit to the originators of the food. Before people start claiming things they didn't invent. The reason why we adviced you to call it what the people who made it call it is because we dont want to hear tales by the moonlight of how Uhrobo taught us how to cook "banga" soup. I want everyone to remember that ofe ora, onugbu, nsala , isiewu , Nkwobi , ofe akwu, nni oka na ogbono, ji awii are all food indigenous to Anambra.
Nni oka and ogbono, isiewu, nsala (as uda for newly delivered mothers only oo) are all indigenous to my part of Enugu, ka I wel’ mal’ oo, lol.
The other ones have become fused into our cuisines too, and rightfully so, considering all.
Thankfully Igbo communities have a history of borrowing from and modifying food from one another cool. This is a blessing, and a sign of oneness, to me.

cooking this has been on my mind for a while now,tho I don't have mortar and pestle, but that's not an issue as I can always get that or borrow. but because my neighbors know I don't have a gf and at the same time I don't F around, I'm wondering what they will be thinking when they hear pounding coming from my apartment as a guy grin grin grin grin
@poco is it possible to by pass the whole pounding in the market?? I've not asked b4 so I don't know.

Yes you can boil till it is very soft and take off the husk with your hands. This would generally be easier when it is “hot”, so goodluck with that. cheesy

ii) You can also put in a bowl and pound with anything that can imitate a pestle.

iii) Growing up, my mum never allowed me pound on the floor. The sound is irritating to any normal human. Place a fluffy rag under your mortar. Your neighbour won’t hear, except they are like mine that monitors my cooking to ask for some.

You wash and cook before pounding. I don’t know anyone that will do that for you in a market and I sabi waka market round. Except you visit a palm oil mill and ask them for crushed ones. grin
Some are in the interior part of some big markets.

But why do men like shortcut like this? The other day I was teaching my bro to make premium stew over a video call. He got tired of frying his tomato blend, poured in the stock and found a way to blame me for his incompetence. So cute and annoying at the same time. cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy

lol...i think it has something to do with our Ego...the way u guys [ladies] feel when someone says "you are doing something like a man would do" if not the same way we feel when the reverse is the case. Tell a guy he does something like a woman and watch his countenance escalate. grin that's how my mum called me one day to come and learn how to wash bitter leaf, after watching her for a while, I asked her if they sell the already washed on in the market and she said yes...I said okay and ran away. I don't have any problem doing it oh, but the problem is if I'm caught doing it grin grin

Very untrue.
It spoils the taste, big time.
It doesn’t even make culinary sense, adding tomatoes to ofe akwu huh. We can always improve knowledge sha, so please drop those tomatoes, specialist or not. And make your verdict then.
well
Can't cook my own without 1 or 2 tomatoes
Case closed
