Let him bath with black soap and apply ori on his body immediately after baths.

Black soap will burn his skin. The skin is already raw and sore from peeling. so i wouldn't recommend any harsh product.

There are some medicated soaps for babies which he can choose from.
Medicated for babies; I have seen them truly but the baby is still adapting to our environs and temp, so it could worsen it.
A clinic would be better. A dermatologist to be precise. We don't guess with an infant's health.

This is atopic dermatitis aka eczema, it's quite common in the newborn/babies because their skin is thinner and loses moisture easily. You can get our kiddies black soap and baby moisture cream,it clears irritation, heals and mousturises baby's delicate skin. You can reach us on whatsapp : 08092642394 for further enquiries

Hello house, my boy is barely one month old and he developed this skin issue. One of my colleagues said it is Ela(Yoruba) but from my experience, ela use to manifest as very red tiny rashes around the neck and joints.

Now this one is not on his neck (though it is in both his elbow joints, scarcely on his Tommy and this morning I say it at the back of his knee), his skin molts around the rashes. I just can't completely describe it that's why I included the pics.

I need help elders in the house. I took him back to the hospital where he was born but they said it will go but I don't like the look.

Mods pls help me push to fp.

1. How soon after birth did you start noticing this?
2. Did you have any prior infection before you birth him?
3. What source of water do you use in bathing him?
4. What do you feed him with?

Steps to take
1. Ensure you wash his beddings/clothing in antiseptic water and iron before use
2. Avoid using anything harsh to bath him (antiseptics inclusive)
3. See a dermatologist for proper examination
4. Use Ori (pure Shea butter) or coconut oil to alleviate the itching
5. Wear him baby gloves to prevent him rubbing sores with hands and putting in mouth

Congratulations on your baby! Please look for Red Acalypha leaf (you can google the picture-it's very common). boil this leaf and bathe your baby with it 2ce daily. Also, Natural Nigerian has a great baby range which works(from experience) also made with Red Acalypha and others.
Do not be tempted to use steroids- they are terrible.

All the best.

That’s what my mum advised me to use when my kids were young after hospital drugs failed. It worked and I ended up planting it so I don’t have to look for it again. smiley

@Op
Try the above. It’s nothing to worry about. See a pediatrician too for peace of mind.

Use baby tribotan. Apply on the affected area mildly. It will clear off with time. I hope you did the scrub bath for the baby with the use of palm oil and local sponge?

It will clear off with time.
Please what's the essence of the scrub bath?

The way modernization is damaging our culture is serious.
There are about 5/6 different herbs that are used to bathe babies in order to prevent this.

I know u would have started giving the Baby some modern drugs and Baby formula instead of ONLY breast milk till its at least 1year old.

Goto Iya Elewe-omo, they would give u the right herbs

[s]Sorry oh, please if you can afford it, buy savlon antiseptic liquid to add to the baby water to bath, and also buy sudocrem to rub on the skin, anywhere this rashes appear. It should clear it. Or best option, please go and see a qualified paediatrician doctor, let them check your baby well and prescribe what's best to cure it, because it might also be an internal infection. Please see doctor quick. There was a time my baby had some boil ish, as broke as I was den, I borrow money go see paediatrician doctor for LASUTH. Na so God save me oh, cuz d baby had an internal infection, not just outwards and na d internal infection come dey cause d skin ish and cause fever. Please don't joke with baby health oh. God bless. Wish you the best and speedy recovery for your beautiful baby smiley

Modified: na now I just dey read your post finish. Please oh, don't mind those doctors at that hospital you birth your baby. They can be non challant and lax sometimes. Take him elsewhere, like Ayinke House in LASUTH, they have many good paediatricians there. Let them run tests on your baby, cuz as a newborn one month old, is possible those are caused by traces of infection from childbirth. Abeg oh, act fast. Babies are fragile[/s]

You people can be really stupid on this forum

It is common to new, he de shed skin color, nothing much to worry about it is due to heat. Use calamine lotion and Dustin powder. But my very good advice see a demartology or pediastric
