Since the doctor you visited said it will go with time, just be wise and don't panic.

Please what's the essence of the scrub bath?

It scrubs off the aminotic fluid and waste off the child's skin to prevent body odor. The child is rubbed palm oil from head to toe of feet and scubbed with soft local sponge and local soap(kogi soap)and warm water, then you massage all the baby's joints too and shapen the head along side after bathing with Shea butter

Hello house, my boy is barely one month old and he developed this skin issue. One of my colleagues said it is Ela(Yoruba) but from my experience, ela use to manifest as very red tiny rashes around the neck and joints.

Now this one is not on his neck (though it is in both his elbow joints, scarcely on his Tommy and this morning I say it at the back of his knee), his skin molts around the rashes. I just can't completely describe it that's why I included the pics.

I need help elders in the house. I took him back to the hospital where he was born but they said it will go but I don't like the look.

Mods pls help me push to fp.

Shapen the head? Sounds too much but thanks.

Buy sebamed soap it’s expensive like around #1500 or #2000 but it’s very effective and use dettol in his bathing water. It also happened to my baby and was asked to buy the soap. It works like magic. Also ask anyone that want to carry your baby to please wash their hands.

Best is to see a doctor
.
But there's protective kind of coating babies develop with while in the in womb within the Amniotic Fluid called Vernix
1-4weeks after birth, it starts flaking as a result of dryness and starts peeling off
One may not notice it in some babies (probably because they have less)

This I'm looking at looks like Vernix which doesn't require much special care, but still, see a doctor

Modified
the baby is having skin reaction/rashes, also peeling of Vernix
So, visit a Doctor

This is an internal disease; may be the mother should stop breast feeding and run a test on herself and the baby.

My baby had the exact skin condition. Wasted money on hospitals and agbo. It was tribotan baby that ended up working for us. Then also avoid the fluid from the boils spreading. What i do then is before each bath, i will burst the ripe ones myself and drain the fluid. Then put tribotan after bathing. Draining the fluid is a major way of preventing it from spending to more area. All the best mama

The attached picture is a plant many mothers use to bath their babies when these rashes break forth. Lagos state use it in many parks for beautification. Some estates have them and some women sell them in the market. Its reddish, purplish in appearance.

Don’t be scared; it’s a normal occurrence in many babies.

Your baby is shading his skin at the same time have Ela or Obo as the Igbos call it...

You can only get rid of it using agbo/herbs ( Yoruba people) have the best treatment for it.. Both the one he would take orally to kill off the bacterias from the inside and then the one you would cook to bath him with, if possible request for also the cream...

I doubt if the modern drugs work for it because it never worked on my 4 kids when they had it...

Don't Fret, it's nothing to worry about

She is right.. Go to local herbs people dey will give u herbs you will use to bath the baby.. Pls do fast oooo..

There is no cause for alarm, what you are seeing is just a reaction to some Ash condition,
The following should be check
1.the water used in bathing the baby ,is it clean or not
2.the soap, avoid using too strong antiseptic soap. The baby skin is too soft for it
3.heat or high temperatures
4 after bathing him use baby powder to cool his body temperature.
Dnt be scare is a normal thing. Some baby shed off their skin, u should be aware of that as a mother. So stop panicking
Re: Help, My Newborn Has This Skin Problem by nonyofor2(m): 9:48pm On Jun 28, 2020
I thought that was my baby's picture, this is caused when the baby is exposed to direct sunlight may be trying to eliminate neonatal jaundice, the rashes will go on it's own but u can use cacatin ointment it clears it in three days it's just 100naira. Using powder will have no effect. U can also use trybotan. Nothing to worry about unless the baby has fever then u can visit the hospital.
Re: Help, My Newborn Has This Skin Problem by PeacenLove2: 9:48pm On Jun 28, 2020
OP, no worry yourself o. Your baby is fine as long as there are no other issues, eating well, sleeping well, soiling the diapers well, not fretting more than usual and what have you.

As you have been reading since, it is very common among babies. I know you don't like to see your baby's skin like that anyhow but be careful what you use. Remember your baby is only one month old and should not be exposed to chemicals.

Mostly people use local agbo to bathe and cream. Someone mentioned 'alefo' earlier and I think that's just the right name for it.

Mothers should have Sudocream anyway cos it's good for diaper rash (prevention and cure).

Shea Butter and or coconut oil are good moisturizer for babies. Affordable and effective.

If you get money, use Sebamed kit (bath wash, lotion/cream and so on)

May God bless our children. All the best OP.

This is normal for new born babies na. No cause for alarm. Even our new baby boy experienced it. Just get Shea butter mix with white capsule and always add liquid dettol to his bathing water. It will clear off within few days

my child too, had similar experience. I was advised to mix YTERCAN and TOTO Cream and use it as his body cream, which I did. Honestly, God helped us, as within a week, the rashes disappeared and never reappeared.

Pls look for "flower pupa" then cook it with ordinary water, let him drink and also bath with it. Wish him quick recovery. God bless
Re: Help, My Newborn Has This Skin Problem by MyPoint: 9:54pm On Jun 28, 2020
The pealing of the skin is not a big deal. It is expected.

The rashes could be due to heat or reaction to soap on the cloth(reanse the cloths well) and try to keep the room well ventilated.

Sudo Creme is the best for this kind of rashes.
