This is what we call ‘Àléfó in Yoruba land. I just showed the pic to my mom and she said it’s what I just called it. She said it’s just a sign that your baby will be chubby. Just visit local shops that sell dustin powders, there’s what we call ‘moju’, it’s in powdery form; just apply it on the affected areas. Or buy Cacatin cream and rub on your baby’s body, there’s no cause for alarm Daddy baby.

Hello house, my boy is barely one month old and he developed this skin issue. One of my colleagues said it is Ela(Yoruba) but from my experience, ela use to manifest as very red tiny rashes around the neck and joints.

Now this one is not on his neck (though it is in both his elbow joints, scarcely on his Tommy and this morning I say it at the back of his knee), his skin molts around the rashes. I just can't completely describe it that's why I included the pics.

I need help elders in the house. I took him back to the hospital where he was born but they said it will go but I don't like the look.

Mods pls help me push to fp.

If you are using any medicated soup or fungal cream for the baby, pls stop it and bath the baby with lifeboy and use shea butter rub the baby body.

Dissolve the shea butter and mix it with kamfor then use it on the baby, you will notice changes.

This is called baby acne. It is very normal due to hormones balancing from exposure to mum's hormones in the belly.

The solution is USE NOTHING!

Just water and baby soap to bath the baby. It will go by itself once the baby's hormones balance. Don't make the mistake of using oils and Shea butter. It will make it only worse.

The best you can use it you can afford it is Aveeno oatmeal bath. It will soothe the baby's skin

Simple, change his soap and body cream preferably to Sebamed (original)

Get sheer butter from Boluke Pharmacy: trust me, it works wonders.

Don't buy all those things. My baby had the same problem. Doctor prescribed ampiclox 2.5ml 4 times daily like 8am, 2pm, 8pm, 2am for 5 days. Buy GSk brand of powder ampiclox. Instructions for mixing with bottled water is on the label. It worked like magic

Pls take this baby to a pediatric doctor. The baby needs to be examined for atopic dermatitis/excema maybe some allergies. Also do not try any home remedy on the fragile and exposed skin until you get expert counseling. Good luck

Pls I'm a certified paediatrician. It's called Impetigo. Buy MUPIROCIN cream and apply it twice daily for the next 7-10 days.
Should handle it.

Thank me later.

Measles goes with intense fever. Are you sure about this? Measles do not just stop at dermatological manifestations.

Sometime this can happen to new born babies if the wiping towel u use after bathing them is infected .let he go for a blood work in the way they can determine the cause
Openbusiness:

Sorry oh, please if you can afford it, buy savlon antiseptic liquid to add to the baby water to bath, and also buy sudocrem to rub on the skin, anywhere this rashes appear. It should clear it. Or best option, please go and see a qualified paediatrician doctor, let them check your baby well and prescribe what's best to cure it, because it might also be an internal infection. Please see doctor quick. There was a time my baby had some boil ish, as broke as I was den, I borrow money go see paediatrician doctor for LASUTH. Na so God save me oh, cuz d baby had an internal infection, not just outwards and na d internal infection come dey cause d skin ish and cause fever. Please don't joke with baby health oh. God bless. Wish you the best and speedy recovery for your beautiful baby smiley

Modified: na now I just dey read your post finish. Please oh, don't mind those doctors at that hospital you birth your baby. They can be non challant and lax sometimes. Take him elsewhere, like Ayinke House in LASUTH, they have many good paediatricians there. Let them run tests on your baby, cuz as a newborn one month old, is possible those are caused by traces of infection from childbirth. Abeg oh, act fast. Babies are fragile

Better like this.
It's not a serious dermal infection as seen which sudocream could take care of whilst she prepares for a visit. I'm not a dermatologist or paediatrician but great success has been achieved using the cream on newborns with such cases. I wouldn't mind directing her to some of my colleagues in LUTH if she could visit this week to reduce waiting time.

It happened to my first Son 2015 when he was barely 3 month, the amount of medication and injection the boy received was much that our family doctor said we should stop medication especially antibiotics for a while. Everytime we are in the hospital because of this.

I tried most of these expensive foreign soaps and medicated powder to no avail. I do on generator 247 because the boy sweat much.

Meanwhile, my wife open up to an elderly woman in the saloon who advice her to be using Baby Testmosol and Mojo Powder(Rising or Nursing Nurse) which worked like magic. The funny thing is that just common N350 (The Soap was N100 and N250 then) solved this wahala when my boy don suffer and I don spent money much.

Moreso, If you notice your baby sweat much, don't cover the baby much unless there's cold. Don't use baby lotion on your baby, some of these lotion are harsh on baby's skin and the funny thing is that most of foreign products here in Nigeria are totally fake especially the expensive ones.

NB, it can spread fast, even in the head
