I think it's taboo going by ancestral beliefs otherwise called superstition.. But going forward in our modern day, I realised the taboo tagged to it and linking it to wrath of the gods happened to be what we call defects arising from Inbreeding.

Inbreeding will occur definitely either in the first or Second filial generation.

It depends on family o, especially the extended families.

In mine, everyone stays on their own.. Some cousins I never see since 10-15yrs now.

Many troubles indeed. A school mate of mine back then almost got married to her 3cousine. It was during the introduction they found out, they were later told to source for a one eye goat to do some cleansing but bride refused since they are Christians and their courtship was chaste. It was funny to me back then.
