i presume the corporal is tired of Army work and want to exit but his only way was to criticize the COS

I think he knows the implication of Criticizing his Boss publicly. the worse the Military can do is to dismissed him which I believe was his motive for the criticism

it's good the HOR want to intervene because he might spend his entire life till Burutai tenure will be over. all southern Reps should intervene and save the man the stress of what was caused by aboki overzealous religion

I know his action was against the military conduct, but the punishment meted on him is just too much. Still went ahead to detain his wife, that's callous Na.

I believe this issue should be the duty of both the joint committees of the Senate & House of Representatives so as to help the lance corporal & also hear first hand the sufferings of those at the front line of the battle in the fight against boko haram especially the type of weapons they are using, issue of their welfare & how long they have been in the battle without been replace & all other issues that may arise from their discussions.

First is to give a strong coalition in releasing the man cos e sure say army no go just answer like that.

Secondly, that man career don end as long as burutai and his goons are still there. If possible retire him with good benefits cos na front line them go send the guy make e die.

And if that's not an option help secure a strong case for the man in course, not to molested or maltreated or sack for no just cause or better still, transfer him to another agency with commensurate grade and grade pay

.. I recalled when it reached 4 years that I had being seeking admission into different institutions, and I felt age was not by my side anymore, I walked up to a military man in my area with the aim of joining the army. He looked at me and took a deep breath hmmmm, and he asked me "Why did you want to join army??
my frustration made me to give him a bold answer"because I have six(6) lives and I want to sacrifice 5 to serve Nigeria. He gazed at me and said "come back after you gain admission".I didn't know how he knew I was seeking admission then. If he asked me whether I want to join the military again, I will delightly tell him"out of the six lives, it remains one , and I am managing it.

Nice move

I have read the Armed Forces Act online, (you can read it to) am yet to find just one single violation the Lance corporal made that warranted his unlawful detention with his wife

It took US 300 years to perfect it's democracy, but it would take Nigeria less than 50 years... Kudos to the Honourable Reps at the green chambers

.

That guy will be compensated financially when he is out.

I know those that are fond of justifying a present crime just because it happened before.
Its a sickening and a warped kind of reasoning

The legal issues surrounding his arrest/detention analyzed in depth in the following videos dealing with the power to arrest/the power of arrest and the constitutional rights of an accused person:

VIDEO 1
In this video, we introduce our viewers to the concept of "Arrest"

We explain why the criminal system has provision for "Arrest"

We give the viewer a bird's eye view of the entire syllabus on the subject of the Power of Arrest/The Power to Arrest

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y90xMqjN0lw

VIDEO 2
In this video, we provide three methods of guaranteeing the presence of the accused in court for his trial

We explain the two possibilities: "arrests without more" and "arrests with more"

We list 12 high profile arrests that we will use to illustrate how the principles that govern lawful arrests can be applied

We take an in-depth look into the arrest of Omoyele Sowore by the State Security Service on August 3, 2019

We turn to a dictionary of law and an encyclopedia to help us define arrest as well as the power of arrest

We run down the constitutional provisions that have a bearing on arrest

We also list the enabling provisions for arrest by the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA), Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL), Criminal Procedure Act (CPA) and the Criminal Procedure Code (CPC)

Next, we step into the realm of comparative law as we compare the statutory and judicial law on arrest in the UK - Section 24 Police and Criminal Evidence Act, Section 24A Police and Criminal Evidence Act, Sadiq v State (1982) 2 NCR 142, Holgate Mohammed v Duke (1984) AC 437

VIDEO 3
In this video, we list the categories of persons who can arrest without a warrant: these include the police, judicial officers, private persons.

As is our practice for each of these categories, we take a look at the topics from the lens of the ACJA, ACJL, CPA, CPC and case law.

Cases treated include IGP V Ogbomo, Jackson V Omorokuna, Commissioner of Police Ondo State v Obolo, Wiltshire v Barrett, Dallison v Caffery

We list the statutory foundations for arrest without a warrant as Section 18(1) ACJA, Section 10(1) ACJL, Section 10(1) CPA and Section 26 CPC.

Courtesy of the provisions of those statutes, we list 15 grounds or basis for arrest without a warrant by the Police

Next, we treat arrest without a warrant by Judicial Officers and turn to Sections 24, 25, 26 and 27 of the ACJA; Sections 15,16 and 33 of the ACJL; Sections 15, 16 and 34 of the CPA, Sections 29 and 30 of the CPC as well as Onitiri v Ojomo

What are the rights of an accused person, and how does the Constitution protect an accused person? What will the Federal High Court decide in this case? Our video on rights and safeguards for an accused person will help answer that question https://thenigerialawyer.com/army-dragged-to-court-for-arresting-wife-of-soldier-who-criticised-buratai/

VIDEO 6
In this new video, we do an in-depth analysis of Constitutional Fundamental Human Rights. We break those into absolute rights and relative rights. We treat a total of 15 absolute constitutional rights and 15 relative constitutional rights. We address limitations/exceptions to those rights whether those be in law or in practice where relevant. Finally, we treat Constitutional Fundamental Rights Overrides ( a total of 5 of them).
