There is an app drawer option in the default launcher.

If not you can install Lawnchair 2, Nova Launcher, Poco launcher and more from the Play store.

You might not be able downgrade and the MTK Chipset won't help issues.

Apart from that considering the age of the phone deterioration is plausible. Consider all these next time you are getting a device.
