Keeping her in a sitting position if she has an attack. Also, prevent closeness to dust, boiling oil, strenuous work or workout

My wife is one and I have managed her for over 12 years now, your wife should avoid the following:
Bathing cold water especially this raining season
Sweeping rug
Dusty environment
Smoke from fire
Exposing herself to cold
Unavailability of inhaler
Always on light clothes
Unavailability of Ventolin.
Pls always go to good hospital if you notice anytime she doesn't breath well.
Also always call her to put on sweeter if you are not around. It is not dead sentence.
Enjoy your marriage

Different things triggered it.
Some people get crisis whenever they perceive perfume, some pawpaw, some fish.....

This weather doesn't favour asthmatic patients, so please try keep her warm. The house must be warm always, no more fans for now. If you like fried meals, please go and do it your self but give her small to eat grin.she should always exercise when she doesn't have congestion. Take all rugs away, use the drugs prescribed by your medical adviser or which ever she has been using, never run out of inhaler, she can take lime/lemon water once in a while and a lot of natural foods or fruits that helps to relieve breathing problems, Aboniki balm can ease the chest and back aches, so wear your massage gloves and most importantly she should never bath with cold water. You can buy a nebulizer and ventolin nebules(doctors prescription) to be used at home if she is having serious congestion, but please if it gets out of your control, go to the hospital. She needs to learn how to manage it because at some point the doctors will blame you if you become a regular visitor.

Asthma doesn't kill, its Ignorance or carelessness that kills.

For instance a diabetic man that has a wife who always feed him with foods high in carbs or an hypertensive man whose wife will never stop using excessive salt and spice in his meals or an asthmatic woman with a man that always wants the fan on even during cold season and negligent whenever she is having crisis( difficulty breathing)

Spouse help each other live longer, be a good husband.

My dad has been asthmatic for over 40years, he has been on drugs and observing all the safety routines. He never runs out of any drug or inhaler or nebules and medically, he is 100% strong.

1)She should always be in touch with your family doctor or pharmacist. If you don't have, get one.
2)Get 2 inhalers(seretide and ventolin).
3)She should be 100% conscious of what she do and eat.
With those 2 inhalers she won't have any problems.

Best Wishes

Let are stay away from her triggers such as dust, smoke, cold etc

Apart from the inhaler, consider these natural remedies

FIVE NATURAL REMEDIES FOR ASTHMA

Tired of depending on your inhaler and medications for asthma treatment? You may be considering trying a natural remedy to manage your asthma; you can use any of these remedies.

1. Mango Seed And Honey

What you need for this herbal solution is 4 mango seeds and a small bottle of honey.

Instructions

Get the mango Seeds, break it to remove the white Nuts inside. Sun dry the white nut and grind it. Mix with honey and take a tea spoon 3 times daily.

2. Euphobia Hirtha –yorubas call it emi-ile, the western world call it asthma plant with eucalyptus leave and ginger

You can boil these together as tea and take first thing in the morning and last thing at night.

3. Ginger

Ginger can be used to treat asthma because it has anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce airway inflammation and inhibit airway contraction.

Instructions

Method 1

You are required to drink 2 to 3 cups of ginger tea daily. To make the tea, add 1inch of ginger (cut into small pieces) to a pot of boiling water. Simmer for 10 minutes, strain, allow it to cool and drink it.

Method 2

Another option is to mix equal amounts of ginger juice, pomegranate juice and honey. Consume 1 tablespoon of this mixture 2 or 3 times in a day.

4. Garlic

Garlic is a popular medicinal herb that needs no introduction used to treat asthma.

It contains anti-inflammatory properties that help clear congestion in the lungs. It also contains antibiotic and antiviral properties that help boost the immune system.

Method 1

Boil 2 to 3 garlic cloves in ¼ cup of milk. Allow it to cool to room temperature and drink it once daily.

Method 2

Alternatively, eat 2 garlic cloves with 1 teaspoon each of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar and honey each morning before breakfast.

Method 3

Another option is to eat 1 to 2 crushed raw garlic cloves daily to boost immunity and prevent asthma attacks.

5. Lemongrass

Lemongrass can be used for treating asthma, coughs and other respiratory disorders.

It contains anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and anti-fungal properties that help reduce inflammation and fight infections. In addition, it has vitamin C that boosts the immune system

I manage mine by having two inhalers, I ensure I do not walk in the rain, I don't fry things with palm oil, I don't stay in choked up places. I take caution when it comes to the type of spray and perfume I make use. I don't smoke neither do I stay where people smoke. I avoid car fume and dust, proper ventilation when need be. When I see that I'm out running out if air I try as much as possible to yawn, helps a lot.

There is no cure for asthma. But you have to learn how to manage it.

First of all, your wife should know what triggers her own.

There are so many triggers. Cold, dust, shoking smells ,smokes, aerosols( pungent smells of some perfumes and body sprays or insecticides), coughs and catarrh.

Asthma is associated with lungs inability to expand very well so as to allow the free passage of air while breathing. Some lungs when stressed or triggered tends to constrict thereby making the air passage a bit difficult.

So you will ask your wife what triggers hers.

Aside that. There is an inhaler called seretide it is a bit expensive. It has a total of 60 inhalations. If she buy it and use it for 1 months without missing any of it. It will always go a long way. 1 in the morning, 1 at night. It is better she prevents it before it starts. Once she realizes that she is pregnant. She should make use of that inhaler, but she will have to consult a doctor to tell her how to use it incases of pregnancy.

But oga, you have a great job to do. Because to avoid some of those triggers, you will have to start doing something’s. For example, cooking foods that entails frying oils and smokes from cooking.

All these things boils down to knowing what triggers her own asthma.

I have asthma. I manage mine as well. I do not do things that will make me breath heavily for a longer time and I also avoid excessive laughter to will also avoiding some of those triggers. Smokes doesn’t trigger mine as I used to be a smoker( I stopped though, when I realized that life is sweet).

Aside the use of inhalers. She can be using some of these drugs, they are very cheap to afford. Aminophiline, franol, ventolin ,predesolon. 2 mg each, very tiny, one in the morning, one at night. But sometimes it can make one dizzy. I prefer to take the drugs to the use of inhalers, I still have inhalers scattered all over my house and in the car, some in my friends houses too. Whoever I meet, based on our relationship, I always tell people about my condition, Incase. I do not hide it from people so that if anything happens, they will know how to start helping me.

My heart bleeds when I see post like this from matured adults on Nairaland

This place does not resemble a hospital or a medical forum! You are talking about one's life and you think the best place to find solutions is on Nairaland? You don't have a doctor or a Pharmacist at the least?

Nairaland is full of children parents still watch bum bum for after pooing. At best the only thing they are good for is ethic fight

Please see a doctor preferably a consultant and stop making a mess of yourself on this useless forum

You can only get good advise here when there is a paid or premium niche where all these children behind Tecno phone cannot afford to pay for and make useless comments

Look through and see the quality of comments you are getting

If you had gone through the comments, you would have realized that so many people commented reasonably. And gave solutions.

Asthma can't be cured, but can be managed. Some asthmatics outgrow their conditions, and some patients fare well in some environment than others.

Take her to a medical practitioner to examine, test and prescribe drugs for her.
That said, you may invest in thick warm clothings for her, avoid fried foods, dusty environment, smoky environment, chilled drinks, cold foods, strenuous exercises etc.

Your doctor should advice you if you need an inhaler or some pills to manage it. You may also invest in a nebulizer should in emergency cases arises when no first aider is present.

Do not buy drugs or inhalers for her without medical prescription please.

I am asthmatic but on the mild.it get triggered by stuffy environment, smoke, dust, cold /taking cold things, fried foods/ oil, perfume ,insecticide and choky odors. I make use of my Ventolin inhaler when I start having symptoms of wheezy breathing or I start feeling chocked. There are also intravenous injections given at the hospital for relief of asthma attacks.

Even if your wife gets pregnant she will be fine. She should always have her inhaler close to her always for emergencies and stay off things that will trigger it.

Btw I have kids already. Good luck
How did you deliver your kids? is it through operation?? Because I'm also scared she might have an attack during child birth
