I will advise you to do mutual fund while waiting for opportunity like sukuk. Eventually when you have time to be available you can run a biz if you have to because what you can't monitor you can not measure and what you can't measure you can not appraise and what you can't appraise it's like working in the dark.

A business partner that has earned your respect and trust over the years can be your friend and also become your in-law.

No sentiment in business, if you do business with your friend, failure on the part of your friend to deliver will end your friendship and relationship unless you are ready to book your losses and move on.

I have found out that most of the people who disappointed me in business which also led to losses were my friends and families.

We heard the case of the guy who sent money to his father to build a house for him. He sent money to the father for 4 years. When he came back, he found out that his father did not build any house, rather his father got chieftaincy titles in the church and village.

You are right sir, same with me. I have learnt my hard lesson and will never repeat such mistakes when it comes to doing business with/ lending to family and friend. It always end in emotional blackmail!

Imagine if I had put those money they are owing me running into millions of naira into fixed income instruments alone, I would have made good profit for the past 1-5yrs that they have refused to pay back.

Business is the unifying factor. They all shared the same dream.

Most old people who have friendship of over 50 years and their children are also friends, are usually joined together by business.

Some business partners are more real and closer to us than our sibblings.

You are on point Pa Emma, especially the last sentence. When I was preparing my Will, I could not confidently identify a good number of my friends that I can use as executors/trustees. I had to settle for an institution as Executor. It's difficult to trust anyone these days
