Predstan:You definitely haven't experienced the other side going by this. His comparison is in regard to economy. Taxes, bills for heater, gas, utility, and AC, alongside car mortgage would suck 5000$ down to approximately 3000$. You earn in dollars and you pay in dollars over there. Rent is paid per month as well. You apparently do not know how expensive the other side is. I went for an academic conference sometimes last year, got into a barbing saloon only to hear bills of 100$ (equivalent of 27,000+ in naira); I needed no one to tell me before leaving. Do not for once make the mistake of comparison based on figures alone; you'd be shocked. 1 Like |

Predstan:He's not experienced. Your experience has no relevance so far you're not trained in their system. A professor left here for Canada couple of years ago only to end up driving forklift for a living despite the number of publications. So far you're not trained in their educational system or have any similar working experience in the same, you're only entitled to menial and non-professional jobs. I'm exclusively speaking for Canada. 1 Like |

If the wife doesn't have adequate qualification to earn a high paying job, she will amount to liability there. The cost of maintaining a family their will be higher than leaving them here. Beside, the wife might be her means of saving into his home country. Many reasons |

JIREN01: The problem with that professor is lack of work permit. That's the problem most who wake up overnight and travel abroad always encounter. The initial obstacle like work permit, health insurance will pose a some inconvenience,. After facing the reality and struggling to adjust, they must now begin to hatch a plan of integrating into the system. Some go into contract marriage in other to get citizenship. |

Gerrard59: Define legally and illegally? We have several legal options, tourist, student, greencard and work visa but tourist and student visa can quickly change from legal to illegal if you overstay or don't maintain the required conditions. Nigerian degrees are basically useless, more schooling/certifications is needed to even get an average professional job as a fullstack developer. 1 Like |

xandy84:You people will just openly vomit your ignorance here. $20 per hour minimum wage does not apply to every workers in the bank. A minimum wage is meant for the least qualified employee and at $20 per hour, it's a dream job even for Nigerian graduate. With that amount, a worker who put in 8 hour per day will earn 160 use. That's over 40 thousand naira per day and close to 1.2 million naira per month. This for a least qualified employee. Tell me a bank that pay graduate 250 k in Nigeria. 2 Likes |
