Good day all, Please I need you all to give me candid advice. I just finished my contract job and I want to go into transportation business since this corvid 19 makes my work little difficult and Im thinking of getting a Toyota Sienna 2010 xle or upwards to 2014 i got a company registered as a limited liability ccompany. I'm currently contemplating whether to start by using toyota sienna older version as 2004 or 2005 model which comes with automatic transmission or go with the 2010 upward xle a V6 engine My route is Lagos to Abuja or ph etc I actually want a bit more class for my passengers Kindly advice whether to start with the toyota sienna newer or older also kindly inform the fuel efficiency, cost of maintenance, class, reliability and other factors into consideration. I'll appreciate any advice and also how you think I can make the business a bigger success. Thanks |

bx1:I will advise you start with the 05/06 models then overtime , you can upgrade .Manual still remains most reliable for transport buisness ,but hopefully other experts can drop 1-2 opinions . |

04 to 06 comes with a 3mzfe 3.3L V6 5 speed auto 07 upwards comes with 2grfe 3.5L V6 5speed fuel economy 3.5L is better cost of parts 3.3L is cheaper maintenance cost-3.3L is better reliability I will pick 3.3 because it is steel engine, it can tolerate overheating compared to the all aluminum 2grfe. Your other point just has to do with what trim you buy, XLE, LE, limited, touring etc. I will advice you stay away from the AWD version, parts are expensive |

Someone has pointed the difference between the 3MZ-FE used on the 2004 – 2006 Models and 2GR-FE used on the 2007 – 20014 Models above. As a beginner, I will suggest that you stick with the 2 Generation Sienna 2004 -2010. You can get the 2004 – 2005 models for between 1.9m to 2.2 million, while the 2007-2010 models can be gotten for between 2.2m – 2.6m depending on the trim, neatness, millage, and title. Using the second-generation Sienna will help you have more vehicles in your fleet, because the 2011 – 2015 models cost about 4.3m – 5m. Thus for each 2011-2015 model you buy, you can as well put 2 of the 2nd generation on the road. I will advise you to achieve stability with the 2nd Gen Sienna and consequently work on Class with 2011- 2015 models. The XLE trim that comes with leather seat projects class however, in the long run, you will grapple with the challenge of replacing torn leather seats. Note that leather seats and interiors are more expensive to maintain. The XLE trim also comes with JBL synthesis premium sound systems and digital control on the front fascia and other additions on the instrument cluster. Though, there are XLE trims that come with fabric seats (I will advise you to go with these). To maximize your earning, try to look for the 8 seat Sienna (the ones with 3 seats in the middle row). Coming to the engines, a lot of transporters have complained about overheating in the 2GR-FE engine. In my opinion, this is a result of their careless handling of the engines and vehicles. The 2GR has received a lot of positive reviews in top vehicles analytics sites globally and it is used several other Toyota/Lexus Models viz Highlander 2008 +, Lexus ES350, Lexus RX 350, Avalon, Camry etc. Just make sure that you avoid the use of ordinary water as your coolant, use Toyota Super Long Live Coolant, or other recommended coolant that matches the Toyota Specification (HOAT types pink/reddish colour). It is more expensive but has a longer change interval and provides better protection for the engine. In fact for the six major fluids (Engine Oil, Transmission Oil, Brake Fluid, Coolant, Windshield Cleaner, Power Steering Fluid) use manufacturer specified types. Avoid the temptation of sticking to the cheaper alternatives or recommendations from your roadside mechanics. Make the car manual your second bible. For your engine oil use only the Toyota recommended 05w30 (either conventional, semi-synthetic/synthetic blend or fully synthetic) For the 3MZ-FE engine on the 2004-2006 engine, it is a great engine and is used on other Toyota/Lexus brand such as the Lexus ES 330, Highlander 2004 – 2007, Lexus RX 330, Avalon, Camry etc. Please note that it is an interference engine (simply put if the timing bet cuts for whatever reason, it will damage your water pumps and valves; this may cause you to rebuild your engine or replace it). It is recommended that you replace the timing belt every 90,000 miles or 144,000km. Please, in buying a timing belt for this engine, avoid buying a Belgium/Used one, because what they sell as used ones are mostly the recirculated ones removed from engine that have reached the recommended change interval abroad. Just go for a good original new ones. Other things will also make your business successful viz, good drivers, excellent customer service, reliability, market entry and engagement strategy, location of your loading bay in Abuja etc. I wish you success and God’s blessings in your business.’ |

Additional All Sienna come with Automatic Transmission, I believe the Toyota Sienna transmission are solid that is why you see a lot of it on the road on long distance journeys. I don't think manual or automatic transmission type should bother you. |
