So we are looking at about 10.5% returns With the current prices of GTBank and Zenith bank shares and assuming they pay same dividend as paid for full year of 2019, conservatively you have a yield above 12% The last sukuk was11. 2% |

We are probably really beyond redemption. Someone on this forum keep hammering on mentality, I believe he is saying the truth, there is a certain mentality that the blacks have, using Ema's defination, socialite mentality taken to the extreme. I think it is beyond public funds. We mismanage everything, private, corporate and of course public funds. It is as if once we see money we run mad. Many of us who condemn others tend to do worse when the opportunity arises. I think some sociology PhD students should study the black race all over the world. There seems to a recurring decimal which ultimately makes the world disrespect us. Although we always blame our leaders here, what can be the excuse of the blacks who have spent hundreds of years in the developed world without any influence their brothers back home. ukay2: 10 Likes |

Hallenjay:The level of corruption/bribery in this country, even up to the highest level of our security forces and corruption fighters is not helping matters. You can't trust them. Investors need to do their own due diligence in other to avoid being scammed. You don't know the people behind this scam/ponzi schemes, these people might be in government. One of the ponzi promoters boasted that the owners of a ponzi scheme is well connected in government. Another boasted of members of the EFCC, being investors in the scheme. Apart from the corruption/bribery aspect of our security forces and corruption fighters, in this country , the issue of members of the EFCC investing in a ponzi scheme, a scheme that they would have investigated and made several arrest to protect the citizens from being defrauded is very worrisome. It tells a lot about them, and the need for them to really educate themselves on how to detect all this scam/ponzi schemes, by not only educating themselves on how the different angles of government works and the movement of funds in other to fight corruption in government, but also educate themselves on how several legitimate offline/online business works, in other to easily detect a scam/ponzi schemes and then investigate and effect an arrest immediately, in other to protect the citizens, not after the scam/fraud had been done. It still depends on having people of integrity in the security forces and corruption fighting organizations My advice to any investor out there is that, if an investment company is not a government licensed and regulated one, you are taking a very big risk, because a government licensed and regulated firm is subjected to periodic monitoring by the government regulatory body, and their financial books are looked into including the movement of funds, in and out, in other to ensure that the investment company is operating the business in the line of business that he claims to deal with, and investors are not exposed to being scammed/defrauded. There are cases where an investment company will claim to be registered with the CAC. CAC is only a business registration. When once you present yourself in the position of receiving deposits from the public, and promising them an interest on their deposits/investment, you must be a government licensed and regulated firm/company, or set up your investment company in partnership with a government licensed and regulated firm who will then be the receiver and custodian of investors funds. Without the above structure, you should get only your family members and very closed friends who know you very well to invest with you. Some investment company that might likely be a scam/ponzi scheme too, might get a UK or any country's business registration status, which is the same as our Nigerian own CAC, and then tells you that they are licensed in UK or any country outside Nigeria, The investment is still not licensed and regulated by the government of its jurisdiction, but only getting a business registration like our own CAC, which does not subject their business/investment activities to be monitored by the government. If your invest with them, you are still exposing yourself to be defrauded. Let's be wise 5 Likes |

Most western business managers have a culture of separating business funds from personal funds due to their understanding. Hence, a western corporate executive can live large on his personal finances without plundering business or investor funds. There are legal implications and consequences over there for such wrongdoings. But, here in Nigeria, there are hardly any functional legal implications and consequences for such wrongdoings, and as long as this persists, business managers will continue to live large on investor/public funds. emmanuelewumi: I'm always surprised at how Nigerians love to hype this Rwanda. It's even an insult to compare Ogun State to Rwanda. Ogun State's GDP per capita is over thrice that of Rwanda ($770). Even Yobe, Zamfara and the worst states in Nigeria have higher per capita GDP than Rwanda. Rwanda just invests in good PR, showing off the few good parts of the country, unlike we Nigerians that love to wash our dirty linen in public. The only manageable city they have is Kigali, so they concentrate all the nation's development in that one city, unlike Nigeria that spreads development across 36 state capitals, the FCT and so many other secondary cities in these states. And yet as small as the Kigali is, it can hardly compete with several state capitals in Nigeria. Outside Kigali, you hardly even see tarred roads in that country. Yes, they are progressing, but they are still far behind Nigeria and so many other African countries. Nigeria is strongly lacking in PR. Yes, we have bad parts, but we also have good parts too. Other countries have good and bad parts too, but those countries will hide their bad parts and show off the good parts, but we in Nigerians will bring out our dirty linen to wash in the market square, and then act surprised when other countries disrespect and insult us. A friend of mine once took pictures at an oasis in the desert. Crystal blue waters, surrounded and palm trees and desert sand dunes with camels. When I saw it, I thought it was Dubai or somewhere in the Middle East, only for him to tell me it was in Yobe State. I was shocked to the bone. He told me the name of the place and I did a Google Search and surprisingly, I couldn't even get good pictures of the places, just less than 5 low quality pictures. We won't show-off such beautiful places, but if I did a Google Search about potholes or any other bad thing in the state, I will see thousands of HD images and 4K quality videos. 13 Likes |
