Please, I have been uncomfortable since I heard of the clam that male Lion does not hunt, but the Lionness does the hunting.

Is that claim true?
They hunt, but not all the time. They are mostly on guard for the females.

I didn't realize wild dogs are this formidable.
They are very dangerous and eat their prey on the go.. try see them when they feed on their prey and you will feel pity for it.

If you checked my ranking, you'd notice I put the tiger and jaguar as more dangerous than the lion.

It's just that Lions with their mane appear majestic and coupled with their confidence, this magnifies their strength and contributes to their regal status.

I saw your ranking and I didn’t wanna upset the general order. As long as it doesn’t favour the King of the Jungle, I am fine. grin

Great thread.
Fascinating pics.
The commentary/captions make it all the more interesting, almost even more than the pics themselves.

Good job Zimri.

It would be good to link to the source too, for due credits. You can do that in the OP.

I did that maybe you didn't notice. They were all sourced from Quora but from so many threads. I'll try as much as possible to provide all the links next time. Thanks

I don’t. I believe IG is the best for pictures though. You can use their names to search them on Twitter, maybe that would work.

PerfectlyPerfect:

Venomous means it needs to be injected directly into your bloodstream though the skin while poisonous means it'll cause harm when eaten.
That particular snake gets it poison from the poisonous frogs which are it's primary diet
I know frogs are poisonous and it doesn't have a cure but won'rlt a snake die if it eats a frog??

I feel lions are overhyped, in fact they are. Any attempt to give them more honor than they deserve would be countered by me. On their own they ain’t shit. All of them, male and female alike. The females are at least more useful to the pride.
Hehehe I feel so too but they are magnificent in sight. Saw one at a zoo and was wowed. Especially fully grown male with the mane is a lovely sight. King of the jungle but indeed they rarely do so much in terms of activities in the wild. They just positional creatures cheesy

the claims that lions don't do much is false information. A lion is a fighter. Born to fight. He gets chased out just before he becomes an adult, sometimes wanders into the dangerous wild alone. Do you know how dangerous it is to hunt solo in the wild? Lions are pack hunters, the females hunt in a group in order to successfully win their hunts. How much more an adolescent lion hunting solo? He takes lots of horn digging from bulls, oxens, get several kicks, make very little successful hunts due to his solo hunting, gets attacked by several packs of hyenas who intend to kill him and eat him(no joke about this hyenas hunt and eat lions), he fights the herd till his last breathe, if he survives it makes him even tougher and stronger with sore wounds that tell stories. These go on unabated for years no less than 5years, when his mane is fully mature he searches for a pride to take over and when he sights one, it is a battle to death with the dominant male lion of the pack. Sometimes he loses and scurries away with large bleeding wounds, which he'll have to use and hunt, and defend, in order to survive. In the end he'll have to find another pride to take over and procreate. If he ever successfully does, it does not end there, he fights other hyenas for the female lions because hyenas come to steal their cubs and eat. One male lion can take on 5 adult hyenas and kill them all. See dude the life of a male lion is a tragedy. It hurts me when this new campaign to dethrone them and overlook them as lazy sleepers who don't do much, goes around the internet. How else does a warrior prepare for battle if not to rest enough and heal from previous fights, how well will he fight other hyenas, join hands to bring down heavy size bulls, kill off leopards and cheetas that kill their cubs, if he does not sleep and rest well ahead of the fight ahead. Man, a lion is a gladiator.

I doff my hat for what you wrote here brother. You have painted a very graphic picture of the life of a Lion. No wonder he's called "king of the jungle" because he makes his presence felt either ways... Be it win or lose, he's still the Lion grin

Do you know why we call God lion of Judah. Lion can sense danger and run if not prepared but lion is the king of the jungle.... if lions should hunt in packs..... it won't be funny.

That's a lioness. Talk of sticking together? Not if you are picked off one by one. The Lion is still the undisputable KING of all beast.
Nobody is arguing that. Truth remains that the lion's strength is in its pride.

Independently, it wouldn't do much.

Actually speed is very useless here. Agility and stamina is the most important cos they won’t rest until the animal dies.
