Barcelona captain Lionel Messi says "things have to change" at the club as they lost their La Liga title on the night their 30-game unbeaten home run in the league came to an end.

Even a win would not have been enough for Barca, as Real Madrid beat Villarreal 2-1 to win the title.

Jose Arnaiz put Osasuna ahead before Messi levelled with a free-kick.

The visitors had Enric Gallego sent off for elbowing Clement Lenglet before Roberto Torres' close-range winner.

Messi, who is La Liga's top scorer on 23 goals with one game to go, said: "We didn't expect to finish in this way, but it sums up the year for us.

"We are a weak team who can be beaten with enough intensity and enthusiasm.

"We have lost a lot of points which we shouldn't have done. We have been very inconsistent.

"We need to be self-critical, starting with the players, but also across the entire club. We are Barcelona, and we are obliged to win every game."

Barca's only hope of a major trophy now is the Champions League. They host Napoli in the last 16 second leg on Saturday, 8 August, having drawn 1-1 in Italy.

The Barca we have now is a mutated version. Most of the players don't send shivers to opponents anymore. Griezmann didn't help either but Barca do not want to accept just yet that he may have flopped. The Messi I watch this days is not at his best maybe due to age.. I hope he realizes he has done enough for Barca already and shouldn't put too much pressure on himself.

It's just a warning sign to him.

That his stay in La Liga is starting to suffer from the law of diminishing returns.

I regard him as the greatest of all time, but this guy who calls himself Pessi should launch out for a new adventure.

His unending house-arrest in Barca is becoming stale and boring.

It would be so thrilling to football fans throughout the world to see Messi play in another league.

It's called sport because it's an adventure, Messi should move his sorry-ass already.

Messi speaking openly that Barça have no chance in the Champions League. He’s done it twice already. He’s speaking the truth, but damn, it’s awful to know that the dressing room aren’t only shameless, but also mentally beaten before matches start. Explains Roma and Anfield......if he decides to leave barca finally then the team is done for.
