Hello my wonderful people, please my boss is about to acquire an SUV. He says he likes toyota 4runner 04/05, though he is open to other better options, which are
Toyota 4runner 04
Honda pilot
Please help compare in terms
Maintenance
Fuel economy
Reliability
And also with a third row seat. Thanks

both vehicles are identical in your query. just note that the 1gr 4.0L V6 is 1m plus for engine replacement, the 4.7L V8 is also expensive but not as expensive as the V6 engine so if you wanna settle for the 4runner safer to buy a V8 just incase madam or children will also drive it once a while.

The Honda is a good performer the major issue you will face is body, the body falls apart easily and the undercarriage get rust when used in water logged areas.

I believe the face lift I think 06 upwards were a tad better.

Both vehicles are SUV not fuel efficient but what they loss in fuel economy they gain off-road capability and power to an extent.

with the saliant points, choose your devil wisely grin

Please as first timer please I need advise on buying a Nigerian use Peugeot 407 2005 and a Honda accord 2005, which of them is more Nigerian road friendly and in maintenance cost and availability of spare parts. Both are 4plugs engine with 2.0 trim

all pilot come with 3rd row seat, not all the 4runner of that model year is fitted with 3rd row seat.

if I were in his shoes I would pick a facelift pilot because it has 3rd row seat, would also be cheaper to acquire and best of all the J35 is reliable and the suspension system is to die for

Lexus ES350 07 to 11 shares same chassis and drive train as a Camry muscle 07 to 12 V6. I don't see how a mechanic that can handle the Camry won't be able to handle the ES. Also parts are interchangeable from chassis to drive train to suspension so what's complicated in a ES?

you will be better off with an Accord if you are in south west, Peugeot if you are in North.

it doesn't matter whether you know the user or not, move close to the car owner, introduce yourself and tell him your interest in the vehicle and would like his opinion on usage, the individual will surely be pleased to answer your question.

As per your requirements, I'd suggest your "boss" does a highlander of same year instead.
However, if he chooses to get something newer, you can check this toks highlander I have for sale here https://www.nairaland.com/5992367/tin-can-cleared-2008-toyota-highlander

Not because I'm selling a highlander.

I just have reservations for the Forunner and Pilot of those years.

Considering both are 9ja used, poor resale value and 2.0 litre engines, I'd say you should not go for any.

Save yourself the stress Bro. It's not worth it.

Easy to maintain, easy to use
Less of leg problems

My budget is between 800k to 1m for Nigerian fairly used.
Or 1m to 1.2 for foreign use.

The car dealer suggested I buy Peugeot 307 at the rate of 1.3m

'03 to '05 Accords
Better if you can get '04 or '05 to avoid '03 gear issues.
Please, due diligence is required when purchasing especially for a 9ja used.
You can never go wrong with an Accord.
Civic is another way to go.
If it's up to me I'll get them a Civic jeje.

The 4runner is a very reliable car. It's not made in the US, it's made in Japan and it shows.

LOL, poor resale value isn't enough reason not to go for any of the vehicles if they are good.

With your argument of poor resale values, it means he is getting either of the cars cheaply, so is it bad if he sells cheaply anytime he decides to resell after use?

So, would he have denied himself owning a car even if he sees a good EOD at 650-800k while looking for more money because he must buy naija used Corolla at 1m above just because everyone now uses it?

European version was just made sporty to make it more appealing. Also depends on what engine is available in the European version you talking about

Good morning @ksmart07, foolbuster, nurey, heavenlybang & other cargurus who contributed to my earlier post.

It's almost 2 weeks now since I purchased the 9ja used Civic European version & I must say I'm impress with the following:

✓ Clean engine, no leakage & has never be loose - (breathing out steam & dropping water) ✓ Clean interior and exterior ✓ Design is beyond what I see on internet √ HP is awesome - the car d move Wella √ Fuel economy - beyond my expectations too (1.8l engine)

Sorry guys I ain't a good writer but seriously I'm glad I own this baby.

For body parts, I don't know about the availability in Nigeria for now. I will just handle the car with care for now.

PS: I didn't check the car myself, I paid someone to do it.

Thanks cargurus.

Did you not see the other reasons I gave or did you just focus only on the poor resale value and ignore the other points?
Besides, I didn't recommend a corolla to him neither have I ever recommended it to anyone ever.

Go and read my comments again and understand what I am saying before coming to quote me.

I just don't like irrelevant mentions.
