Lk6:1-5

6 And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first, that he went through the corn fields; and his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands.

2 And certain of the Pharisees said unto them, Why do ye that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath days?

3 And Jesus answering them said, Have ye not read so much as this, what David did, when himself was an hungred, and they which were with him;

4 How he went into the house of God, and did take and eat the shewbread, and gave also to them that were with him; which it is not lawful to eat but for the priests alone?

5 And he said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath

Everyday is Sabbath

Matthew 12:10-13
And behold, there was a man who had a withered hand. And they asked Him, saying, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?"—that they might accuse Him. Then He said to them, "What man is there among you who has one sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not lay hold of it and lift it out? Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath." Then He said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." And he stretched it out, and it was restored as whole as the other.

The problem with you is your understanding of the scripture.
Where exactly did the Bible approved everyday as the Sabbath ?
The Sabbaths and the Sabbath are their the same ?
What is the Sabbath ?
What is the Sabbaths ?
Explain with examples how everyday is the Sabbath.

Happy Sunday to all Nairalanders.

Congratulations to us all. By God's special grace, we're seeing the last Sunday in July despite all the evil happenings all over. To God be the glory!

Sabbath is biblical and observed by Jews from sun down on Friday till sundown on Saturday.

It was ordained by God as the day in which He rested after creating the heaven and earth in six days.

Sabbath was really made by God for mankind because God

- Does not sleep or slumber He doesn't get tired like we do. He's a Spiritual supernatural being. We are flesh and we get tired, hence we do need rest.
- God wants a day to have us to Himself without the distractions that trading or other activities bring into worship.
- Every living thing God made needs to rest to avoid breaking down.
- There is a place of rest in God spiritually that we need to enter for our own peace of mind. It is possible to lay down and try to sleep but if your spirit/ mind is not at rest ( busy or worried) you won't sleep!

Do you observe Sabbath?
Which day do you observe yours? (Friday Saturday or Sunday)
Why do you worship or rest on that particular day of the week?
Have churches been opened in your State?

Do have a wonderful Sunday! grin
Ops your write up actually reminded me of the question I had always wanted an answer for i.e when, why n who changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday?, anyone in the know please.

The correct sabbath day still remains Saturday and there is still no biblical evidence of the change of the sabbath to Sunday. Many sunday worshipers today are obviously doing this out of ignorance. It is time for people to stand up for the truth. The end of this world is near. The issue of worship and the day of worship is very important to God and that is why God warned us in Isaiah 58:13-14, not to do our own pleasure on His holy day. Worshiping on the Seventh-day Sabbath is a recognition of God as our provider. May the Lord bless us.

When God created the world, He rested on the seventh day. When God gave the ten commandments to Israel, He commanded Israel to rest on the seventh day as well. In Exodus 20:11 the reason given for that is that God rested on the seventh day from His creation work. In Deuteronomy 5, we find the second version of the ten commandments. The reason that God gives to rest on the Sabbath is to remember that the Lord delivered Israel from Egypt (Deuteronomy 5:15).

Sabbath law in the New Testament
So the Sabbath given by God in the Old Testament is the seventh day. It started with sunset on Friday and ended with sunset on Saturday. That is the Sabbath that the Jews are still celebrating.

How is the situation in the New Testament? In the New Testament we read that we are not under the law, but under grace (Romans 6:14). Christians do not have to submit to the ceremonial law anymore. The New Testament shows in several ways that the Sabbath law does not apply to Christians:

All other nine commandments are repeated in the New Testament, but the Sabbath commandment is not repeated.
Paul never wrote to the gentile churches he planted that they had to keep the Sabbath. Since the Sabbath was not part of their culture, that certainly would have been necessary if Paul had been of the opinion that they had to keep a Sabbath rest.
The churches in the New Testament met on Sundays, not on the Sabbath, like the Jewish synagogues.
Paul explicitly teaches that the Sabbath is just a shadow of things to come, but that the reality is found in Jesus. He gives us the heavenly rest. Therefore Paul forbids us to judge other people on the basis of whether or not they observe a Sabbath (Colossians 2:16-17).
The Lord’s day
The Jews met on the Sabbath. Christians started meeting on Sundays (see Acts 20:7, 1 Corinthians 16:2). They did that because Jesus was risen from the dead on a Sunday. And appeared to them at least on the first and second Sunday after He was risen (John 20:19,26). Almost immediately the Sunday was called ‘the Lord’s day’ (Revelation 1:10).

So it is clear that Christians do not need to keep the Sabbath on Friday and Saturday. It is also clear that the church, following Jesus’ lead, from the beginning had its main meetings on Sunday. This does not mean that the Sabbath laws were transferred to the Sunday. We are under grace, not under the law.

That the Sabbath is fulfilled in Jesus, and that we therefore do not painstakingly have to follow the Old Testament Sabbath laws, is great news. But it would not be wise if we would use that to say we can now work each and every day. That the Lord rested on the seventh day of His creation work still is a powerful lesson for us. Rest is a blessing that we receive from the Lord. That the Sabbath law is fulfilled in Jesus probably means we should enjoy rest more, not less than in the Old Testament; that we should focus on God longer, not shorter than in the Old Testament.

Jesus’ fulfillment
While we do not need to be afraid that we are sinning if we work on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, one great way to honor Jesus’ fulfillment of the Sabbath law is to set the Sunday as much apart as possible to go to church, to meet Christian brothers and sisters, and to focus on God through prayer, Bible reading and the reading of Christian books.
Fake fake teaching. Through out the Bible there was nothing like worshipping on Sunday. God is not author of confusion. Jesus and other apostles never gave credence to Sunday worshipping. Luke 4:16 Jesus went to synagogue every Sabbath as His custom was. All the churches planted by Paul are all headquartered in Jerusalem. Paul just like Jesus worshipped on the sabbath.see Acts 18:4.
Sunday worship is a symbol of paganism. Man attempt to change the law of God.

Dear Sir. Please go through history well. The sabbath day was changed some years ago by Roman Catholic Church. There was no where in the Bible that certifies Sunday as a day of worship. Check your Bible well Christ even recognize sabbath as against your position in your write up. Check the attached bible references.

Sabbath is Saturday. The seventh day of the week. It is a day we shouldn't do any work but only those that please God. It was instituted from the beginning of time after creation. It is the only day that God blessed and hallowed. Jesus went to the synagogue every Sabbath while he was here. Jesus also said he didn't come to destroy the law but to fulfil it. If Christ went to the synagogue every Sabbath and we are Christians who should follow his footsteps, why do we all go to church on a Sunday? God doesn't change neither does any of his laws. He is the same today, tomorrow and forever more. Let us awake and start keeping the true Sabbath - Saturday.

Well said.

God, the creator of the universe is same forever. His laws and statutes would never change.

Do have a wonderful Sunday! grin

Sabbath is not only made for the Jews!
It was made for both Jews and Christians as well!

Why?

The fourth commandment is the observation of Sabbath.
Exodus {20:8} "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy."

If the Ten Commandments are eternal laws, why would Christians exclude one (Sabbath) and still claim to be the followers of the "Ten Commandments"?
The Christians should called it " 9 Commandments" instead!

Remember the Bible tell us that God's laws are eternal!
“All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal.” (Psalm 119:160 )

Jesus also tell us that he didn't come to change laws, but to fulfill!
Matthew 5:17 “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.”
Matthew 5:18-19 “For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled."

Therefore if Jesus didn't come to change the laws, How would Christians that come latter change those laws and still claim to be righteous?

Jesus observed the Sabbath day!
Matthew 12:8 "For the Son of Man is lord of the sabbath."

Even St Paul and all the disciples observe the Sabbath day!
Acts 16:13 ; 17:2 ; 18:4 ; 19:8

The disciples were all in isolation throughout Saturday, following Jesus crucifixion. Mary Magdalene and other women only went early to his grave on Sunday morning after the Sabbath has pass. Why didn't they went there on Saturday?
The simple answer is because they were observing the Sabbath day!

It is time for Christians to begin to have a critical rethink of many of their practices.

The Bible tell us that Jesus would deny a lot of people on judgment Day, because they didn't follow the commandments!

Thanks!

You can gather in day for prayer that doesn't transfer the holiness of the Sabbath to that day. Jesus himself said until the heaven and Earth past away no iota of the commandments will be removed. Study your Bible.

Jesus neither abolish the sabbath (Matt. 16:17), nor did Paul preach against it.
In fact, it's on record that Paul was an habitual sabbath keeper.
At Antioch, in a meeting in the Synagogue on a sabbath day, the Gentiles entreated Paul that he should preach to them on the next sabbath (Acts 13:42). If sunday was a day kept by the Church at that time, why didn't Paul invite them to his sunday service? Instead, they had to wait until the next sabbath to hear God's word.
Acts 18:4 "And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and Greeks.
In this particular case at corinth, it was over a period of 18 month (Acts 18:11).
If we're talking laws. There are the Ten commandments, and there are the ceremonial laws.
=>Ten commandments
*It's written on stones and placed inside the Ark(Ex. 31:18, 40:20).
*Breaking the law is sin (I John 3:4).
*We should keep the whole law (James 2:12)
=>Ceremonial laws
*Written in a book by Moses(Ex 24:3,7)
*Placed outside the ark (Deut. 31:26)

From the passages above and from my own native intelligence there is nothing here that points the invalidity of the Sabbath . The Sabbath is sacred it doesn't matter how you want to interpret the Bible to suit your understanding.
God took six days and created the earth, moon, star's and sun and all in here.
On the seventh day ,he rested from the work that he has done!
So he blessed it ,made it holy and as a gift for Everyman!
To remind us where we came from and just how his work began!
The Sabbath is not the least of my worries but my main worry as far as my Christian faith/walk is concern .
Am a seventh day Adventist and a believer in the sacredness of the Sabbath.
Keeping God's Sabbath is an act of obedience to God .

Sabbath is a holy day, purified, set apart ,sanctified

I am yet to give you Bible passages to support the sacredness of the Sabbath!
If so desire let me know

Do have a wonderful Sunday! grin

Sabbath is Friday to Muslims, Saturday to Jews and Sunday to Christians.
I call it Separation of power.lol

But to a follower of Christ, it is insignificant. It is not a matter of day of the week or geographical location. For those who worship the Father worship in Spirit and Truth as God seeks those to worship him. John 4:19-24
