Good morning House.
Please compare 2005 GX470 vs 2008/09 Highlander.
Focus:
- Reliability
- Availability of Parts
- Cheaper to maintain
- Ruggedness
I already know that GX will consume more fuel because of its V8 engine but that's not a major concern to me.
Thanks

Thanks

Good morning @ksmart07, foolbuster, nurey, heavenlybang & other cargurus who contributed to my earlier post.

It's almost 2 weeks now since I purchased the 9ja used Civic European version & I must say I'm impress with the following:

✓ Clean engine, no leakage & has never be loose - (breathing out steam & dropping water) ✓ Clean interior and exterior ✓ Design is beyond what I see on internet √ HP is awesome - the car d move Wella √ Fuel economy - beyond my expectations too (1.8l engine)

Sorry guys I ain't a good writer but seriously I'm glad I own this baby.

For body parts, I don't know about the availability in Nigeria for now. I will just handle the car with care for now.

PS: I didn't check the car myself, I paid someone to do it.

Thanks cargurus.
Congrats on your new ride, remember to use the right gear oil honda dw1 and the right engine oil check your oil cap to service the car. I hope say you go burst drinks for your boys.

Gurus in the house help me compare the following
1.06/07 c280 non 4matic
2. Lexus is250 08
3. Lexus es330 06
4. Acura tsx 07
In terms of
- Cost maintenance
- Availablity of parts
- Fuel consumption
-And a little bit of power for the boys grin grin

Performance: C280>IS250>TSX/ES330
Parts: ES330>C280>TSX/IS250
Fuel consumption: TSX>IS250>C280>ES330

Cost of maintenance: All are ok. TSX body parts are likely pricey. The C280 shares engine accessories with newer cars like the W204 and W212, so that also reflects. IS250 parts can be surprisingly expensive.

ES330 is almost definitely cheapest.

Oga nurey and other guru, pls, which model and trim would you recommend between 04, 05, and 06 for honda odyssey. Iv made some researches and found out that the LX has 7 seats, while others (EX, EX-L and touring) has 8 seat. I wanted the 8 seaters anyway. The EX-L and touring has the vcm which many users are condemning on major forums. Please, what did you hav to say sir. I want this odyssey. Please advice

I hope the Odyssey you are talking about is the 05 model year upwards production was in 04 but model year started 05.

but the Odyssey is okay, the VCM was fitted in EX-L and touring, I Know Honda faced a class action suit for it they only elongated the warranty but no solution. but I believe there is a solution for the VCM, there is a way it can be disabled.

As for trim, it depends on you, you can get your desired trim and the vehicle may not be in a good condition. To me vehicle condition is most important, other guguru and groundnut can be added to any trim

Thank you sir. So far the vcm can be deactivated, no cause for alarm then.

Toyota Corolla has been tested and trusted, if you are comfortable with the security challenges and can mitigate against it good enough for you.

Elantra isn't bad too but body wise, the Elantra would fall apart easily compared to a Corolla. But it can be managed if judiciously used and disposed off when signs start showing.

GX to an Highlander are kidding me, GX is a better ride by far, luxurious, rugged, loaded, statement maker, dominator.

Highlander wins in fuel economy and practicality

- Reliability: both are very reliable.

- Availability of Parts: parts are readily available for both but the GX parts are more expensive.

- Cheaper to maintain: hands down highlander

- Ruggedness: both are rugged but the GX can tolerate more abuse.

I've gone through this thread and no one seems to be interested in Toyota matrix. Is the car that bad when compared to Camry or corolla, say 2004 of the 3 models

matrix shares chassis and drive train with Corolla of same year.

we can probably define matrix as a Corolla in hatchback form

Thank you so much for taken your time to attend to us. In fact, you're the most active. Here is my questions: is the ordinary one 600 or the one with vcm. Also, did 06 come with ordinary and the vcm fitted one? Or the 06 just come with the vcm fitted engine only. How much is the ordinary one and vcm engine of the 06

The VCM fitted one is more than 600k, I believe the ordinary should be around 4xx not too sure,.you can ask well in the Honda maintenance thread, luvinghubby should have an idea.

The 05 upwards has both engines, ordinary for LX and EX trims while the EX-L and touring have the VCM engine fitted in them
