Dark S3 went into a more convulated sequence than S1 and S2 but once things got going, events that occur in S1 and S2 became so so clear. What a brilliant show and their concept of time travel, Bootstrap paradox and quantum entanglement was top notch. This show will be relevant for a long time... overall a properly done show..

There is no such thing as an objectively good or bad movie, Movies are meant to give us an experience and because we all have different tastes and opinions, we'll each have different experiences with the same film (Some positive, some negative).

Some people like to make fun of people who dislike a film that's beloved or considered a classic or love a movie that is divisive or wildly hated. This is ridiculous. Because all film is subjective, we'll all have several films where we disagree with the general consensus.

I have people that dont like watching ANIMES....they just dont understand it....
It's one thing to not like a beloved classic or like certified trash. That's subjective.
Where objectivity comes in is when you try to trash the classic just because you don't like it or glorify trash because you like it.

Please, answer this simple question,

Is 'A' an objectively good grade or subjective?

Your answer will determine if I should proceed, or abstain from the debate.

Awesome season so far. It has the potential to become my favorite season after season 1 and 2. I'm still at episode 6.

Vexatious:

This is a very short-sighted perspective.

Quality is objective, and since quality is objective, then taste is also objective.

A pepper is spicy. Salt is salty. Sugar is sugary. Kolanut is bitter. These are all objective takes on food stuffs. No one has ever tasted a salt and say that it's bitter, or sugary.

Likewise, a quality show can be simplified as one with high production values and good script. Objectively, it's a good show.

Thus, dissing a quality show and qualifying it as trash is same as tasting a salt and saying it's bitter.

Ergo, it's wrong to justify bad taste by using the "tastes are subjective" excuse, because, technically, it's false. Taste is objective.
You cannot force your taste on people... People are different... I explained everything in my last post. A good show to you might be trash to another.. And vice versa. Just like it's being argued here about OZARK. Personally, I like OZARK ( I have seen Seasons 1 and 2)... But some other people here do not like it, so will i now force them to like what's not their taste? All i am saying is that it's a free world. Allow people like what they like... Live and let live, that's how it is done in a civilized society. We must not all like the same things.

At this point, it just about seems you don't really understand objectivity and subjectivity and/or the difference between them.

I hate bootstrap paradox, I think its a stupid theory, they used it in futureman and it totally ruined the show, once I found out that dark was adopting the same theory I lost interest in the show.

What rocks your ship can sink my boat, I agree with the point that there are no good or bad movies. The acting might be be great with a very bad script and vice versa.
Some watch just because their favourite actor or actress stars in it.
We condemn 9ja movies here a lot but I've seen people who can't do without them. It's all about perspective.

I agree the bootstrap paradox was what made the series more harder to decipher and enjoy, but it was the only way they could explain all the time travel warp that was going on like someone been their own great great grandfather and great great grandson at the same time.

I'll give it another shot, and then I'll abstain from the debate. No point in debating a topic with people that don't understand you.

•••••••••

Quality is objective, irrespective of your personal bias.

Basically, "A" grade is objectively a good grade, while "F" is objectively a bad grade. Why are these grades considered objectively good and bad? They are objective since the measurement schemes used to verify them are based on common standards.

Likewise, an objectively good show is one that has good writing and good production value, while an objectively bad show is one that has bad writing and bad production value. These are based on collective norms/common standards.

People like what they like and consequently, some might be drawn to shows with the bad writing and production because they offer more entertainment than the ones with good writing and production, but their personal bias don't/won't change the objectivity of these shows, since these shows are still objectively bad and good respectively, based on collective norms.

For instance, I loved 6 Underground, one of the most ridiculous and poorly written movie I've seen, because it's a fun movie. But I recognize that it's poorly written, and if you go online and see the reviews & ratings, you'd see that it's an objectively bad movie in every way.

Another example-- I hated the Godfather, not because it's not a masterpiece, but because it's outdated. But most importantly, I recognize that it's a great movie and one of the best of all time.

What I'm trying to say is it's fine to not like something, but it's important to judge how well a show/movie does what it's trying to, regardless of whether you liked it or not, that's all.

Good day.
