Good day, please I would like to know about the admission criteria for medicine and Surgery in Usman Danfodio, the tuition and other info.
search for the Udus Facebook group. You'll meet many students there and you'd get quality information with the chaffs too.
Udus UG 1 school fees is around 56k or 58k. I can't really remember but it did not go beyond 60k. Acceptance fee was 5K or so. You'd pay for Tship and screening too.
Admission criteria is based on meeting the cut off mark for your state region, having a complete Olevel in preferably one sitting, maybe gender balance too and most importantly beating competition from your state.
If 7 people from your state apply to Udus for MBBS and if the slots reserved for your state is just 4. Only the top four aspirants based on utme and Olevel will be admitted. That is even if all the 7 off you meet the cut off, only the top 4 is guaranteed admission. The rest may have to wiggle in or get ready to manage Applied Chemsiry or Agricultural courses.
The easiest way to get MBBS in Udus is to do your homework correctly and be assured you have ticked the most of all the requirements box. All in all, with a utme score of 300+ you're on a safer side. Bonus point, udus usually reserve maximum of 5 slots for states in southwest or eastern region. But Shey you see those northern states, naa we full the school. On jamb addmision list, total admitted is around 150 something but with matric students, total UG 1 is towering 200 students.

this is not nice ó Alexa. How can you advise someone to do what they don't like for 5 more years. That's not nice and can be depressing self. What if he do something drastic along the way. Then to now start MBBS after spending 6yrs. Although I heard if you want to cross from dentistry to MBBS after finishing your BDS you will do just 18 months or so studies. However, I won't advice anyone to continue with what they don't like.
The only place I've seen this is on Nairaland. It's not done in my school. I've never heard of it anywhere be it post graduate or undergraduate studies. That info is misleading

Chief,it's just a suggestion.
I felt that way because taking jamb again might be a bit much to handle while studying for school exams.
With the competition and all.
If he can handle it,then it's okay.

You're right Alexa, a bird at hand, expecially one like BDS worth hundred in the bush. He said BDS is boring to him so I can't blame him. It is best he try utme while still being a student of BDS. If it works well, he can then leave and it is goes other way round, he can still continue his boring BDS like that.

Good day everyone, I scored 281 in jamb this year. But I am having problems choosing between AAU and Uniben, college of medicine

The reason is because of the finances of which I can't afford in AAU... I need at least 250k to be stable in my 1st year. Which is cheaper in uniben

But I would have completely chose Uniben, but this is my 3rd time take jamb, I have 279, 270 and 281 consecutively.

I have passion for medicine

There are two options in my mind

1. Secure this is Ekpoma, and take Utme and see if I can make it in uniben, so that I don't put my eggs in one basket

2. Just take uniben post ume, if it doesn't work out write next year

I need help please

Secondly, what is uniben cut off for indigenes please I heard it's 74, while merit is 77
I took special interest in this story of yours
First of all Uniben divides your jamb score by 8 and your post utme score by 2 to give your your final score which will make you eligible for any course of your choice depending on how high your score is.
Let me tell you my story pls read well
I am a final year medical student of the University of Benin, I gained admission in the year 2013, with a jamb score of 239 and a post utme score of 81(I made the merits list, as I am from Anambra state).
Lets do a little maths
239÷8 =29.875
81÷2=40.5( let me give this tip, uniben round up your post utme score to the nearest whole number, thus mine is 41, I know you understand why, but its not the same for the jamb score which is wrong cos its supposed to be 30)
So that particular year, I was able to predict a correct guess that the merit cutoff was not going to be more than 69 or highest 70, I was able to know this because I was already a student in the school studying another course so I already knew the progression of cutoffs with my statistics.
My Jamb score really discouraged me , that was the year CBT testing was introduced, but I still opted to Pencil and Paper, but I did not i was disadvantaged because those that used CBT scored higher, and to be honest the exam was easy because I really prepared for it.
Fast forward to postutme I set a target for myself to get atleast 70 as aggregate(that will require me scoring 80 plus at least in the postutme)so I will know that I have tried my best( igbo's will say k'anyi n'achu aja, ki ikpe na ma ndi mmuo).
So in essence I did my best and made it.
The summary of this story is that bro, you can make it too, just set your mind to it and work towards it.
One love

I just graduated from Medical school.

MB.BS. BENIN in the bag.

Never relent on what you set your mind to do.

Good day, please I would like to know about the admission criteria for medicine and Surgery in Usman Danfodio, the tuition and other info.
hi...am a final year medical student of the usmanu donfodiyo university and would be very pleased to answer all inquiries concerning udus/uduth sokoto and also correct some hilarious misinformation about udus and northern unis in general
admission into udus is mainly by merit and once u beat the stipulated cutoff for that year, you are 99.9% sure of gaining admission regardless of you state of origin( am from delta state and knew no one in sokoto wheen i was admitted and in my class alone, we have people from uyo, calabar, edo, kogi, imo, anambra and enugu and all other northern states whether catchment or not)..postume was(temporarily) suspended 2014 so that means the only criterion use is jamb..just score above cutoff and in addition be among the top two in your state
for the tuition fee, it ranges between 52 to 56k but u can check the udus website to get the accurate fees foe each level
some other info u need to know is that
1. sokoto as a state is relatively peaceful, more peaceful than almost all the southern state and as a matter of fact udus always brag about the popular nickname given to her as the " most peaceful university"
2. though the uni is very concerned about decent dressing, its important to remind u that it a federal uni and so all religious practices are practiced peacefully and freely...
3. the current HOD of physiology, pediatrics , surgery and so many other departmental top profs are all Christians so the notion that is a a religiously bias school should not be there
4. the scul just started her dentistry program
5. sokoto state has extremes of weather, when its harmattan its very cold nd when its hot, its really hot
wish all aspirants the best

Only immature Medicine student would look down on their Dental counterpart...
And only Dental students with issues with their esteem would feel inferior.

Exactly!

There're so many stuffs to be concerned about in med school, other than throwing tantrums on other professions. Well such attitude maybe exhibited by 100level students due to immaturity but it becomes a critical case of stupidity afterwards.

Hmmm.
Who would have a BDS and wants to switch to MBBS.

The only way to Find out is to ask those in the Field.i don't think its actually a hoax but it's not as Simple as we say it.

Because after your BDS, you would realize that both of them are at Par. So whats the Need to go for MBBS again.
You just continue with BDS.

Dentistry Students Don't Face anything. It was what you Felt you Faced, which is Nothing anyways.
You know when someone isn't Studying what he wants, any Talk from others would Feel like an Insult. You will be Like" its because I'm not in Medicine that is why you could say that to me"

Here in UNN, you won't even know which one is Dentistry or Medicine.
No insult, No childish talk to belittle the other. Like where would you start from sef....
Every Wrong Notion about dentistry Ends After Orientation from their Senior colleagues.

My Dear, you don't Like Dentistry Simple!

Getting into the medicine department alone is not just enough in some Unis like mine AAU I'm a first year student in the department and we're 300+ but only nearly 50 get to graduate. It's not that they're dull in fact they're the most serious anywhere. Night classes are always full even on Sundays but fail just one course and you're out. Also there's the pre MBBS exam that 200 level students take after 1 and a half years. That's where they filter the students. Until you pass that exam you're not a medical student sef grin But God's grace that has been keeping my seniors before me will also be with us.
Be focused and forget the number of students in your class, I'm a medical student of AAU too and to be honest with you I enjoy the competition because it makes me go extra miles in my reading. Tell yourself as from today that you are a medical student as you are in first year now, read hard and success will be yours.
