good beats and great voice can only make you shine for sometime, but only good lyrics can make a music star shine forever. Not only WizKid, but all Nigerian hiphop artists should work on their lyrics. It is not only 'my baby' 'my Ferrari' or 'my money' we want to hear from their songs. They should take a cue from legends like Bob Marley, fela and others whose songs are still popular till today.
as for WizKid, i'm one of his biggest fans but i must admit that he is already loosing it. He is a good singer, no doubt, but he is not a good musician and he isn't a great songwriter either. More than 80% of Nigerian afro hiphop artists are also like that, including Davido, olamide, zlatan, tiwa and others. My respect goes to tuface, burna, sound sultan, asa, Duncan mighty, MI and some very few others.

I don't really think the issue with Wizzy is his lyrics. It's the actual songs themselves and their melody, beats etc. They are all over the place.

He needs to play '2 step' groovy beats (like Davido) and better melody.

Wizkid can write good songs, I think what he needs right now is inspiration. He hasn't written a good song in years but some of his old songs are great. The person who really needs a songwriter is Yemi alade, that woman has the voice of an angel but she's misusing it, someone with a great voice like Yemi shouldn't be singing gibberish like abrokoto brokoto and so on. Shekere was pretty good but I think she really needs a songwriter, she's wasting her voice.

Nigerian artiste hardly accept the fact they need songwriters. they believe they can do it on there own. song writers are one of the reason drake keeps releasing bangers. even the weekend surrounds himself with song writers e.g belly, nav , metro boomin etc

What's the cost of food stuff in your state( or your area) especially rice?

We have heard federal government saying that Nigeria has never produced rice or other agricultural products like in the past 5 years. Particularly 2019/2020 due to anchor borrower scheme.
Here in Kaduna where I live, rice is a no go area. This evening my bought some rice and a "mudu" goes for N1,000.00.

Can we say that government's claim is true?

Can we say that government is earnestly tackling food insecurity?

Or the billions of naira being pumped into agriculture is going into personal pockets?

most Nigerians are hypocrites though. rema was a very songwriter back in the days his songs starboy , boulevard, why and Spider-Man are all international standard songs with top notch lyrics yet he was never recognized this same rema released dumebi and Nigerians started grooving to it since then rema have been releasing trash cos he knows that's what Nigerians like. so I can't really blame wizkid but he needs to work on himself though he got one of the most loyal fanbanse in Nigeria they deserve more.

I'm a music lover, well maybe I used to be before more than I am now. After that 'Holla at your boy' track I noticed it too. Wizkid has a great voice but
has very weak lyrics. I noticed most of his songs were made up of repeated lines/words, good beats then chorus( exempt for the great songs some other artists feature him) . I've said this many times, many years ago before this thread. He would make a great artist if he had song writers. Most great artists have song writers too, even artists like MJ, so no biggie..... Why do some guys bother us with unnessary comparison each time Wizkid or Davido is mentioned?

Nobody can tell him what to do
Since he is not under anyone only decipline people can work under such conditions...

My point is, the chart toppers and trend setters will always be the young and those who are mostly sub 25.

Really, I think the problem if Wiskid is free styling.

You see there are three ways of song writing,
1. The beat is made already. They play it for you to freestyle. With this style you may not make good sense with your lyrics.
.2. You have written your song like a poem, you sing and the producer makes the beat to fit the song. With this type the lyrics always make sense.
3. You have written your lyrics, you got a beat not really made for your song, and now, you look for ways to fix the words in the beat. This one makes sense too like number 2.

With the few videos of the making of Wizkid's songs I was previledged to see, he uses the first style. Therefore, he would always end up with bad lyrics. And his lyrics will always sound the same.
