Na wa o, I'm neither concerned about the mother nor the father, even though I wish the law deals with him accordingly, my major concern is with the child and a lot more like him whose stories don't get to the internet, who sometimes end up losing their life or being damaged for life.
I'd love you to also note that no punishment meted out on perpetrators of such crime can ever make up for the scars, physically or emotionally victims do bear.
So if we can, it is better to forestall a crime than punish a criminal.
