Good Day my People,

Please i need clarification on some issues. My husband has been in Germany for some years for his Masters degree program. He went to Germany for his Masters before we did our court marriage in 2018. I have written A1, with the hope that i can join him with our Son. The problem i have now is that:

1) I just read online that i must have been married to my husband before he got the student visa to apply for the family reunion(Please how true is this?)

2) My husband is currently not working but i can show money to cover my stay there, but i do not know how much would be required for me to show.(Please how much minimum can i show?)

3) My husband is in a student accomodation there. Would he have to get an accomodation that would be large enough for Him, Myself and our Son before i go for my interview? Or the money i would be required to show would cover the accomodation wahala.

4) Is there any hope of been considered for family reunion?/Has anyone whose spouse is a student there successful joined the husband/wife ? ( Please i dont want to waste money to apply if my chances are slim).

I have booked an appointment for the family reunion October last year, but if it is not possible for me to go through the family reunion route, i can always cancel the appointment based on your advice.

Please kindly assist with answers to my worries

Thank you

You can apply, but the issue is your husband’s financial state and his accommodation, those are key points the issuing authority looks into before granting such visas.
So think twice before giving it a try.

Hello amygal01,
First of all ,please do not cancel your appointment. I had similar issue, my husband actually traveled to Germany for his masters program in 2018 and his resident permit is not up to exactly 2 years. We got married March 2020. I was also worried and almost canceled my appointment but I'm glad i didn't. My interview was on Tuesday, last week and it was successful.
best of luck to you

Hey guys , Some good news I think , German embassy in Lagos updated their website with this information , I just noticed it today , so i guess people with essential travel can use the contact form to contact them or call them

https://nigeria.diplo.de/ng-en/service/visa

Due to the development of the pandemic in Nigeria, visa applications can currently only be accepted in urgent exceptional cases. As soon as this situation changes, an announcement will be made on the website of the Consulate General.

In cases where exceptions apply which allow entry to Germany, travellers can contact the Consulate General via the contact form / by phoning +234 1 280 99 66. You can find a list of these exceptions here.

Hello Nolia, did he call you before coming to you?
I’m just wondering when he would come, I just wish I will be at home when he visits for verifications.
Please what were the questions he asked or what did he do when he visited you?

Ooops...I guess some questions we ask here and response we get here are too sensitive and probably against the rule of this platform.
I observed nairaland deleted some questions and responses recently made here. Apologies to the authorities.
Good luck to all applicants.

Then how long does it take after interview for lawyer to come for your verification, just want to know the time interval.
Thank you.

Anyone who lives in Lagos or in the west has an advantage. It is easier for the lawyers to visit. I pity those who reside in Sokoto or Bayelsa
