That is a big lie. Why didn't they grow before ShopRite arrive in the first?

The fact is that Nigeria system of government will not allow a private company that has no government or political affiliation to grow up to world standard level

Fvcking cheque book leaders!

So shop rite has been the reason local supermarkets have not grown.

Proverbs 17:28 says "Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding".
You are the fool here because you lack the basic understanding of how Multinational and Transnational companies affect the local retailers. They come with a huge force of finance and kill all competition.

When you don't have knowledge of a particular topic, just keep quiet. You musn't display stupidity and call it ignorance.

You should've held your peace. How can local supermarkets grow when they are underpriced by Shoprite? Do you know of the concessions Shoprite got to operate?... concessions that are not given to local supermarkets? How can they grow when Shoprite is given all sorts of breaks? Ever heard of Walmart?.... they kill local supermarkets and small businesses and for that reason.... they are not allowed to do business in New York City. Shoprite needs to go... let local business and products thrive.... let South Africa sell their products in South Africa.

This is a not so intelligent statement to make, local shops may close too for the same reasons shop rite is packing and we should also consider how many persons may loose their jobs when they do.

As far as I’m concerned shoprite leaving isn’t a big deal, addide have been into this same business and are not complaining, globus as been doing the same thing all these years and are even opening more branches....if they can’t stay afloat they’re free to go

It is not a must to make comments, so you avoid talking nonsense.

I think this statement is unwise.

You spend billions running around the world for investors only to FRUSTRATE them to leave after a few years.

There are several that are exiting quickly in the last few years. All the gains under OBJ are being scattered away carelessly.

All the efforts for Pan-African economic integration is being rubbished.

BAD POLICIES - That is the cause.

This administration has so called experts going round to talk talk talk about EASE OF DOING business. Yet, it has not at any time been more difficult for both small and large businesses here.

Exploitation, insecurity, obnoxious levies and taxes - unpreditable business environment, corruption etc.

When are we going to start?

Cumtroller:
Fool.

Bad policies and a harsh operating environment is the bane of other supermarkets and businesses in general, not Shoprite.

Does this Man know the huge number of local suppliers shoprite has engaged? Or does he think the fresh produce and other items stocked in the supermarket are all imported. What about Jobs and tax income that will be lost with the exit of shoprite?

Many are mad and this is a classic example. He should cut his hair to allow sense permeate his skull.

coming from someone that was shouting xenophobia. When ShopRite wasn't here did the country die?

Heard Walmart is coming to Nigeria. Main reason Shoprite wants to leave because they obviously can't compete with the American company.

He didn't think about it been a bad signal for prospective international investors. Smh.

How has intentional investestors helped an average Nigerian? How has Nigerian invested internationally? Maybe by collecting loan from Chinese to building railways in Nigeria is the ultimate investment? Or Nigerians should build their capacity to invest in their own hubs. International investment is the language or slangs of politicians to deceiving those who want to be gullibled.

Shop rite decided to leave Nigerian because of declined in sales. Somebody needs to wake up...no money no friend.
