Openbusiness4: Your research is grossly inaccurate! Between 1960 and 2010 oil traded for an average of ~$46 per barrel based on 2020s dollar. Between 1960 and 2010 Nigeria sold an average of ~576m barrels per year. Total revenue generated between 1960 to 2010: 576M barrels × $46 × 51 years= ~$1,324,800,000,000 This US budget for 2020 is about 5 trillion dollars!!! * based on 2020's dollar https://inflationdata.com/articles/inflation-adjusted-prices/historical-crude-oil-prices-table/ https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/ https://www.researchgate.net/publication/266222981_How_Important_is_Oil_in_Nigeria's_Economic_Growth https://statinvestor.com/data/992/opec-oil-prices/ |

Opperwezen: No, no, no, your calculation is grossly under reported. We had many oil boom periods where oil sold for over $130 pb. And "average production" is about 2.2 to 2.5m bpd, but Nigeria produces as much as 5m bpd in some periods. So revenues were far higher than average many times. And pls don't even compare us with d USA. There budget is that high because they are forming world police, paying for NATO, paying for UN security council, paying for all kinds of UN programs, singlehandedly funding as much as 90% of their costs year in year out, they spent so much on military defense to remain d world number 1 super power, dey police d world having troops and presence in almost every corner of the globe, they interfere and sponsor their interests around d world, and another one is they give aid to hundreds of beggy beggy countries like Nigeria to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars, year in year out, out of magnanimity and politcal reasons etc. And despite all this, they are still top 5 ruling super power country in the world, still the most advanced civilization in the world, still d most politically powerful country in d world, still d most generous country in d world, still be most infrastructurally developed country in d World.....in short, all factors combined, dey are d best country in d world. So they have something spectacularly tangible to show for their huge spending. Your country has JACK to show, NOTHING, a complete shithole despite all the 600 trillion dollars they have earned from oil since 1963 to date, 57 years of wastage and embezzlement. Not to mention HUGE revenue from other major sectors like shipping (we are basically am importation country). Your country Nigeria is an absolute disaster that has wasted a lifetime opportunity of monumental growth and development on d platter of Government CORRUPTION. With the money this country has earned siñce 1960, this country should be rubbing shoulders with d 1st world industrialized civilizations of this world in every single facet. We should be a damn 1st world country. Look at d UAE, look at Saudi, we started off almost at same period selling oil, our oil, BLCO, is even more favored, look at all those countries, look at their citizens and tell me if Nigeria is not a disaster. https://m.grin.com/document/67959&ved=2ahUKEwifx_PRgYLrAhVSUMAKHTH7DC4QFjABegQIDRAF&usg=AOvVaw2Rx7etsQg_Hs64JDn12svn |

To say that the Nigeria Police is out of control is an understatement. Nigeria police has no control whatsoever. It is an organization full of criminal elements parading themselves as law enforcement officers. Law breakers cannot be law enforcers. Criminals cannot be security. You cannot be commiting crime and be preventing crime at the same time. Nigerian policemen always feel that once they jointhe force they are now above the law. The turn themselves to investigator, prosecutor, judge, and executor all in one. They see themselves as above the Judiciary. They carry gun around killing people like hunters killing game in the forest. They block the road and begin to extort money from motorists at gun point. What is the difference between that and armed robbery? Nigeria has so many laws against bribery and corruption yet the Nigeria police that is supposed to enforce it is the number one most corrupt government agency. Too bad. |

Openbusiness4: 5m barrels per day?BIG FAT LIE!!!! 5millon barrels per day at $100 for 50 years is 9 trillion dollars and not even close 600 Trillion like you said Take a look at the link you sent yourself, it's in billions not trillions!!! A mere 600b for 50 years is nowhere near the yearly budget of the US. South Africa's yearly budget is around $100b!!!! Did you go through the links I sent? You're not being factual here. I resign!

joyandfaith:Exactly, we as a people also need to collect and share information when those illegal detention and extortion happens, doing so would help to some extent. Imagine no one shared the murder of George Floyd that policeman might have changed the story and walked away. The IGP Xsquad thats suppose to check such incidences here have become a part of the problem also, too many corrupt people in that uniform. |
