I guess the uncle just want to use the surname to easily prove at embassy that u are his son without hassle. Nevertheless, u will still be asked in ur application whether u have any former name. Therefore, failure to declare the previous name even after changing it, will amount to visa denial

Now my problem is this :
Will the change of surname affect my travelling documents if I want to apply for a visa, since the surname I have on my academic documents is different from my new surname?

What do you think I can do to balance everything?

It might look simple but it will get complicated at a point,I know change of name is allowed under the law,what if he changes his mind midway?
What if things don't run perfectly smooth?
I suspect he might want to bring you into UK via EEA family Visa,though UK is out of Europe now but majority of agreement and treaty still subsist.
Change of name for a male is like starting your life allover again, things won't be the same again most especially when it was done for ulterior motive like this.

Which type of visa requires you to change your name to his? In my opinion, none. If he is applying for you to come as his son, still it is not a require plus you have to be under 18 years old for him to be able to do that.
Also, when filling the form, there is a section that asks if you have ever been known by another name. In this case you still have to state your name you changed.

Exactly. You really need to be very careful when it come to changing of names with the British on your documents when applying for their visa. They are really Maddy when a contradictions occurs. Please, be well guided.

Not sure why this is on front page as the only reason someone is asking you to change your surname for visa is to commit to a fraudulent application as your surname dies not matter for any application weather your married and still have a maiden name , adoption and much more .

It’s not as simple as you think. Bro if u are up to 18 please don’t change that name because it won’t work. Please.
Once you are above the age of 18 and not physically challenged (to the point where you need assistance to eat and do daily activities), no one can include you as a dependent in immigration or tax filings.
Ask a good immigration attorney before you make this mistake and just know that,
First this is listed as an immigration scam. One that can earn you a life ban from the U.K.
Secondly, it’s not as easy as you think and you have to change all of your documents to reflect the new name before they can now be accepted.

If your uncle wants to help you, let him go ahead and do that without putting you in such damming situation.

If you change your surname, you may have to change name on other documents as well. The biggest of all is DNA. Just prey they don’t request a DNA like US embassies do sometimes.I hope the UK are a bit laid back and won’t request a DNA test.

Your uncle is ignorant, i guess he wants to bring you to the UK as his son right? Remind him that the British high commission will ask for DNA test and birth certificate as evidence, so change your name all you want but you can't change your DNA
