Nigerians need to get over this mentality that snake are dangerous.
1. Not all snakes are poisonous!
2. Snakes do their best to run away from humans. All animals actually.
3. Not all snakes are out to harm you!

We need to get over this garden of eden mentality we carry around!

So do you really want to take the bet that not all snakes are dangerous?
Will you be moving about with a snake encyclopedia to carefully determine which one is poisonous and a treat to your life and which one is not?

The phobia of snakes is something that is deeply ingrained in humans and some other primates.

They may not necessarily be out to harm you, but when found in a residence they are killed and that's just how it is.

The snake was harmless and innocent

The snake might have noticed you and ur brother for than 30min
But didn’t react

Why did you’ve to kill it

You would’ve as well chase it away
Instead of killing

Good morning Nairalanders, I’m posting the picture of this snake I killed last night so anyone who knows the name can say it.

I never knew the creepy thing was above my head. I stood beneath it (for about 5 minutes) as it kept observing me.

I normally pump water at night. So at 10:47pm, I came outside to lock the tank. After locking the tank, I saw my brother coming out to get water. (he too was standing beneath it without knowing), I left for my room but I didn’t really know what brought me out again, maybe I felt like talking to him some more. As I came out, I saw the snake hanging close to my roof, at the top of where I was standing before. Then, I told my brother to move away quickly before we killed it. I know Lala probably won’t be happy that I killed it!
looks like a gaboon viper.

I am an intern with the NSE. I never learn work finish (LOL). However, I can adjudge the snake to be poisonous.

From the shape of its head that's a viper
Some species are usually calm like that unless they feel threatened

Re: I Was Lucky I Didn’t Know A Snake Was Above My Head by Ibile77(m): 11:14am On Aug 06, 2020
It happened to me when I was in the secondary school back then, we had a tree beside our classroom where we do take shelter from sun. In that fateful day, I was under the tree unknown to me that there was that type of that snake directly above me. It was by sheer luck that it didn't bite me until a classmate sighted it from far and raised alarm that drew my attention after some minutes of dribbling, it was killed .

The snake ain’t got interest in you. You weren’t a threat to it. It could’ve stung you before you even realized.
