Religion has always portrayed people who smoke cannabis as mentally ill or as very irresponsible and capricious people.

But from my experience, many weed smokers i've met are the kindest, benignant and most open minded ppl.

But the stereotype still exist, why?

It exists because of the strong effects of popular culture. A lot of people stereotype cigarette smokers too. The general culture is just stupid.

One of the smartest people I have ever known is a functioning stoner, so you are right.

The thing is there is always good with the bad and people remember the bad a lot more that the good.

Weed aint for me though. Too much lack of cognitive and mental function when high on weed to make the high enjoyable. Usually, it end in a panic attack.
