[b]good morning nairalanders, I will be telling a quick story about my life. am 25 years old, after my secondary school education year 2011, I was planning to write my jamb then my dad got sick(stroke), so I couldn't get any sponsor for my education and I was scared to work for money then because I was just 16 years old, so my mom advised I should learn a trade. but because I only wanted to study I didn't stay long learning a trade(2 months). so 2 years after, my dad's health didn't improve I gave up on education, then I went to learn graphics and web design, but I only mastered the graphics design, because I was unable to pay my boss his balance. a year after, I tried to get a graphics designer job but to no avail, then I started looking for other jobs apart from graphics design. fast forward to 2015, I was growing more uncomfortable with how things were moving, I had to borrow money from a rich girlfriend I had then, coupled with the little savings I have to start a sport betting business(1960bet). things started moving well, infact I had to employ 2 more hands, I was happy and finally I was planning to get a part time form, then something else came up(the betting company I registered with started having financial issues, that i had to 2 stop the business) I couldn't pay customers winnings again. I already used all the money I had to pay winnings, and they couldn't pay me back. another year passed, things, the frustration started because things ain't going as planned. I later got a job at chevron lekki, but resigned a 2 months later because I couldn't get an accommodation at lekki and the salary wasn't enough for my t.fare. I got another job at spar opebi, though I enjoyed it and stayed longer, I was planning to get a part time form, then gbam, there was mass retrenchment, and I was among. I really became more frustrated. my worse mistake 2018, I impregnated a lady, I wanted to abort it but my mom didn't allow it and her in, then i became a father with no job. then July 2019, my dads health worsen, but I later got a job at opay. dad later died November last year, I was really sad because he wasn't able to send me to school despite his promises. during the covid 19 pandemic, opay sacked us. now am at home frustrated anf clueless with almost a two year old son, my mother and my sibling who just wrote a jamb and awaiting admission, and looking up to me to pay his school fees meanwhile I still wanna study also. mind you, my elder brother is abroad though he sends some token every month and a jnr bro who is an airforce and serves in maiduguiri. please I need your advise, I am so frustrated, last time I checked in hospital, the doctor advised I should stop thinking because my bp is higher than my age. Yes you can still make it in life.

You need to upgrade your computer skills for free. There are many topics on nairaland where they teach it.

Also you need to be serious with your spiritual life, prayer is what you need.

Then you need to encourage yourself and forget about school because school na scam.

what if you start a buying and selling business?

honestly Man yours is a case for the elders.... What done is done what you need is money....but Now one can hardly get money without a skill unless business which still requires an amount of Know how... I won't say forget about school but for now.... that a long tin

You just need patience either learn a skill or start a business.

Why exactly would ur brother be looking up to you to pay his school fees when you've not even gone to school? He should look up to the one abroad biko.

I was a bit disappointed with your last paragraph. School no be scam my sister, its our system that is a scam. If it is a scam why are politicians faking certificates upandan?
If you can go to school, pls go. You never know when u might need that certificate. Just like our polithiefcian that didn't know that one day it will become useful ( Davido's uncle comes to mind).
The way our youth see education is also a problem. They see it as a means to all ends and become mono-focused on education.
My advice to young ones, go to school but learn a skill/trade.


Now to op. Yea u can still make it. Leave school aside for now until u are very comfortable. Pick a skill/trade and learn.
It will not be easy but u will make. ( at least for ur son)
