Today marks a grim milestone. Mubarak Bala has been held by police in Kano State, Nigeria for 100 days without access to his lawyers or his family and without appearing in court. His whereabouts remain unknown.

Today, after 100 days without seeing her husband and without knowing if he is alive or dead, Amina Ahmed has sent an appeal to the Nigerian Senate asking for the smallest things—to be given proof Mubarak is still alive and to be allowed to see him. In an open appeal to The Senate President, Sen. Ahmad Lawal and the Speaker of House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, she says:

“…above all, I beg you Senators and Honourable members of House of Representatives, the men and women who swear to God to uphold the rule of law in my country, on my bended knees, I beg you please let me have proof that Mubarak is alive, please let me see my husband and let Mubarak hold his son again. This is all I ask of you.”

Nigerian courts have proven they cannot protect a Nigerian citizen when religious interests are set on denying him his rights. Worse than that, the delays, excuses and prevarication in bringing Mubarak to court, show the Nigerian Judicial system is thoroughly corrupt. It is a feeble puppet of religious interests, not a courageous defender of the Constitution and human rights.

If Mubarak has done wrong, why do the authorities not bring him to court and prove their case? Perhaps the answer is simple. They have no case. They have fanatical Muslims baying for blood and they have no stomach, or no desire, to stand up for the rule law.

Let’s hope the good men and women of the Senate will restore the justice perverted by the police and the courts.

The full text of the appeal is shown below.

The religious zealots in government kidnapped Mubarak because he dared to criticize their prophet. They refused him his basic rights to trial or allow him a lawyer. Referring to Mohammed as terrorist as he did falls under free speach. Free speech is supposed to protect offensive and disagreeable comments. The state has no business mandating someone be agreeable to violent mobs under any circumstances.

Under what law is he being tried under anyway is it secular or sharia?

I hope people can now see clearly the difference between Christianity and Islam.

If you like insult Jesus from dusk till dawn, no Christian will hurt you or ask for your head, na you go even tire.

But why isn't the Nigerian govt doing anything about this ? Is Nigeria an Islamic state?

PS : Some fools will come here to bash religion, as if it's not Islam in particular that did this.

Damnnnnn niggarrr
I keep on saying it
For the world to know peace
We must eradicate injustice.....

What if the relative or child of this man picks up arms to revenge...then we will be shouting terrorism..

Most of the terrorist attacks and insurgency the world is suffering is as a result of injustice
I do not support or sympathize with boko haram
But i can tell you a little of injustice caused it....you can't handculf someone( Yusuf) and still claim he wanted to run then you shot him
Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere

The way Peoples right are violated in this country.
Let's make the country lawless, let everyone pick up arms, let desolve the constitution, and let all take the law into their hands.
Since people enshrined to protect our right are the ones abusing it now.
Lets take and defend our right .

The gods are angry! angry The Spirits of Ojuelegba is angry! The ONLY sacrifice to atone his anger is to cleanse Yoruba Lands of bad eggs.

Nigeria is a death trap for free thinkers

If you know you are logical and reasonable, please do not be too blunt.

There are alot of zombies and fools in Nigeria who only have religion as their saving grace.

Any attempt to make them see their foolishness will result to violence.

While some christians are terrible fanatics, most muslims especially from the north are notorious fanatics.

Do not try to make most religion fanatics see reason, they will hurt you.

They are both in the common streets and high places!

Nigeria and religion should be included in 1000 ways to die.

Very sad. He grew up Muslim and knows why he said such. The accused should fight for himself.

Was he not the same man bundled to the psychiatric home after he declared an atheist.

Allow ppl to experience divinity themselves.
That's the beauty of Christianity.

Peaceful religion at it again. The guy is been detained peacefully.

The day we begin to begin to tolerate each others religion and believe will move our country to another level.Funny how people insult Jesus Christ every day without any retaliation from Christians.

God or gods ought to be powerful and all knowing. Then why are men fighting for an all powerful God.it should be God protecting and fighting for men,not the other way round.
