My addition is nursing, though most people are staying away from hospital work, by the time you are ready to relocate to USA, COVID will be in the past or there will be a vaccine. You will never go hunger if you are a registered nurse. The second is airplane mechanic. With these additional two skills you are certain companies will be looking for you.

Learn how to do it well -If you know you know,but on a serious note learn how to be honest -Once oyibo catch you with a lie ,your finished,learn how to use to Computer -Learn how not to be gullible but open minded to your new freedom and new world -An average Nigerian is timid ,so unshackle that timidity and open your mind to knew skills -Don’t be too proud ,be flexible!!!

My advice regarding skill is leaning how to sew and braid hair as a man, it will fetch you lots of money in the USA. Another skill you can get is nursing. When you get a nursing skill in America, you will never go hungry. But you must pass the nursing board in the state you reside to work as a nurse.

If you like be a master degree holder, or PHD holder, America will hire someone with job experience before looking at your masters or phd.

Acquiring tech skills in the USA is more favorable because they have no regard for skills acquired outside their country. So when you come here you must take a test to defend those skills, get a license before you can get hired or practice.


America is a land of opportunity, but you must make yourself available.

Where do you people get the nonsense idea about washing dead bodies? Is it Nollywood?
Dead bodies are attended to in the morgue by people with medical training in America who are supervised by medical examiners. Not immigrants or illiterates or anyone just walking in from the streets.
You think its Nigeria where you call a Mallam to wash your relatives dead body??
And what do you mean by wash toilets? What job would be washing toilets and where? Hotels? Peoples homes?
Ignorance na real disease.

And for your information Electricians, plumbers, construction workers ARE CERTIFIED. Not just anybody saying "my uncle trained me" or else na jail time you dey risk. Union construction workers earn $100k plus per year and live in money.
Your average plumber here earns more than a University lecturer. Labor is rewarded here.

One thing you need to know about the US is that they require a license for everything. Should you be a mechanic or go into data science, you’ll still need to go to school here in order to be able to practice in that field. However if you work with African clients for most part, there are skills that can earn you money even if you choose not to become licensed. Something like hairdressing, you can do this from home especially braiding which won’t require a lot of money to start. Catering or what they call culinary arts basically cooking especially if you specialize in certain dishes. I know someone who bakes for African events. Many people usually order cakes from American bakeries but if you are good at making different kinds of cakes, you’ll get customers.Makeup Artistry, African in the US like to party.If you are good at makeup especially bridal makeup, you can make anything from $70 per person. The other is events decor. If you know how to make those center pieces and to decorate, you can offer to decorate for a baby shower & from there you get clients to do even halls. These are things you can do without having to go to school here & make money unless you choose to become licensed and advance your knowledge academically.

As for me am a language translator I know American and British sign language(meaning I can communicate with deaf people) , am also skilled in painting (10yrs experience) . What are my chances with these skills in U.S? Any ideas.
