Hey sis,

Please I need help/advice.

Some months ago, the sun damaged my skin as in the attached picture. Then the Nivea argan oil and rose lotion I ordered online was probably fake cos it worsened the case and made my darker especially my face and neck. Like darker than the dark part in the picture.

I stopped using the cream and got St. Ives coconut and coffee scrub to exfoliate and then changed my body lotion to St. Ives oatmeal and sheabutter.

The challenge now is while my skin feels extra smooth and succulent after exfoliating, my face and neck is sadly still darker than the rest of my body. Now, my whole skin is even getting darker than my usual tone.

Please what face and neck cream would you recommend and perhaps a lightening cream to get back to my normal skin tone.

I also noticed that after I exfoliate, my face looks lighter for like a day and then goes back to being very dark. I exfoliate twice a week

It is very good, trust me.

Prolonged use of the cream comes to give you this golden brown colour, for a dark-skinned person like you. More like toffee. Please, don't forget to use sunscreens.

Now, you've been going about your skincare routine wrongly due to the products you're using.

Truth is, those products you mentioned you used are not the remedy for your skin condition as they are mere moisturizers that are meant for naturally dark or dark caramel skin. So using them will only take you some shades back.

I'll advise you dont use a chemical lightening cream to clear your skin but opt a natural botanical product ranging from soap, toner, and cream.

You can as well use "Altruist". That's what I use when I can't get Neutrogena which isn't usually scarce by the way. Altruist is SPF fifty.

I see you've got a solid knowledge on skin beauty products. So here are my questions; is vaseline healthy even tone lotion good for a fair skinned dude? Or does it darken one's fair complexion?

Hi, Wolex1960. The results of Vaseline even tone lotion varies from person to person. My sister is really light-skinned and uses Vaseline even tone lotion and it works really well on her skin, that is, it maintains her complexion as normal. However, I used it once and it took me one shade back (darker).

Are you a natural light-skinned toned person? I would also want you to note that Vaseline even tone doesn't promote aggressive toning/bleaching. It is also more of a moisturizer than a toner. It enhances the texture/feel and just gives you a normal radiance. Do not expect a miraculous skin change/tone.

Both works just fine. However, I get this heavy feeling on my skin with "Altruist". I am sure that the result varies from person to person.

And yes! I'm naturally light skinned. Haven't been using any cream on my body for over a month now. So I just need a good lotion to help maintain my lovely skin, and someone suggested this.

Vitamin E oil will darken your skin. Your best bet is using the cream just as it is.

Don't mix creams with other lotions/oils, you will only be reducing the potency of the cream and/or introducing reactions onto your skin. Topically apply your creams onto your skin and do the same with the oil(s), differently. Best of luck.
