Personally I don't like the concept, quite uninspiring

Looks childish, I believe they can do better. They should try to contact the guy in charge of decorations and gardening for Rochas, because if we blame him for anything, one of the good things he had going for him was his beautification of Owerri with gardens and parks

My opinion is for hope to restore that freedom park water fall, create neighborhood car parks with interlocks, using designated green verges, and focus on oguta lake for any other form of park development.

Iberiberism without understanding it is a big disease.

Decorating Owerri even with gold to 5 Star Level, but have Orlu and Okigwe remain the shitholes of today, a visitor to Imo state may SPIT on your face for Iberiberism. They don’t develop places in a state or country one after the other. You do here, you do there, NEVER concentrate on one place. Ohashieremism sets out against you when you concentrate on one place.

State capital is the seat of government.
It’s not a place to concentrate nearly all government development institutions - as in Owerri, Imo state.
No constitution says that state capital must be developed first before any other place in a state.

See beyond your Owerri nose for once: for example, Tallahassee is the capital of the state of Florida in the USA. But there are other cities many times bigger, and hosts more government institutions of government, than Tallahassee, in the state of Florida.

In neighboring Anambra and Delta states, for example, government development institutions are distributed roughly equal among the senatorial districts.

In Imo state, poorly informed political leaders that have consistently emerged from other senatorial zones outside Owerri agree to the falsehood formulated by Owerri that state capital must host government development institutions in the state; that state capital must be developed first before other places in the state get government attention. FALACY, FALSEHOOD. Non uniform development in a state does not impress decent people.

Imo is different from these states you mentioned. In the case of Delta state, the state is made up of people from different ethnic groups plus the fact thatWarri and other parts of the state have always been big towns before the creation of the state. The same thing with Anambra where Onitsha has been the biggest town before the state ws created, so it makes sense to spread development across board. I'm not saying that development should only be focused in the capital city and i think it's unfortunate the way things are done in Nigeria but it is what it is.

Snapping substandard roads and other shoddy jobs which does not engender human and capital development are not the hallmark of development.

You guys should quit this boot-licking and sycophancy. The government is elected to construct roads, build bridges, provide functional and equipped hospitals and schools, create jobs and provide enabling environment for private businesses to thrive. How many enduring legacies and infrastructure do we have in Imo state?

Orlu and Okigwe are glorified urban settlements that lack basic amenities; even Owerri the state capital is grappling with poor infrastructure; how many years has MCC road, Chukwuma Nwoha etc been under construction? How many industries are functioning and employing people in the state? Even state owned factories like Ada palm, Avutu poultry, the ceramics company and even Concorde hotels have been run aground and sold off to cronies.

You guys have to wake up cos the dagger that did the damage still drips with blood.

Awoomamma born man. Tomorrow when you want enter politics, you go shout Orlu zone, Orlu zone.

Did you not know that ALL THE TERTIARY EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS that Owerri politicians cornered in Owerri are responsible for hotels and urban expansion all over the place in Owerri area? Continue to wait for the century Owerri shall expand reach Awoomamma and Mgbidi for you to embrace modern amenities. Never.
Owerri shall rather expand to Ikwerre land where people share same cultural ties with Owerri people.

Owerri politicians fooled people like you who say they are from Orlu zone. Orlu main town becomes a no development for you once you are in power. Those who demarcated senatorial districts according to cultural ties, you make them fools.

Every Imo governor tampers road construction in Owerri, bootlickers rush to the social media with photos of the road to shout “Imo state is developing.“

Since 1976, they have been building these Owerri streets.

Some one here said Anambra is having many modern cities because of cities that existed before Anambra State was created. Is that the reason why Imo politicians cannot develop another modern city except in Owerri area since 1976?
Where are the monies that should have gone to provide public infrastructures in places outside Owerri?

So many industries are functioning and employing people but you will never see them because you suffer from self hate and inferiority complex if indeed you're from Imo. As at early 2019 Imo State was the fastest developing State in Nigeria and rated the best governed State but some of you were denying the truth and trying to say NBS was wrong because Okorocha was in power but look right now what we are. The State with highest level of unemployment in just a year.

Imo state needs ONLY 2 items to thrive:

1.) Getting Federal Government approval for International Flights to land in Owerri

2.) Revolution of building Modular Refineries (5,000 barrels/day refineries) to supply petroleum products to entire SE and Middle belt.

These two events will revolutionize the economy of Imo state and make it a state where good high paying jobs are available in large quantity.

Did you read “the dagger that did the damage still drips with blood”?
We have to be awake until we rid Imo state of charlatans in leadership positions.

It’s only a compromised assessor who would rate Imo state the best governed state in 2019, shortly after Rochas government built nearly 97% of what it considered as development projects in one patch of the state - Owerri area, but left rot in rest of the state, except his village where he built the other 5%.

A state governor who used federal allocations to his LGAs to build federal government institutions like Police and Prison hdqts in state capital, all now rotting away, while floods damaged roads and houses in Orlu due to uncompleted urban drainage tunnel started by a former governor from now Abia state.

Immediately after Rochas left, the floods in Orlu cut the dual carrier road he built leading to his community.

What is the state of the Eastern Palm University into which billions of Naira went?

Awommama has great amenities and it's citizens are working to add more. This mentality of taking away from Owerri to better everywhere else is ridiculous. Owerri isn't 10% what we want it to be, but many think it's already 'too much'. What then can such a mind produce with standards that low? Regular people built almost everything in Owerri and as a regular person you should plan what you will build in Orlu. The homes the hotels, the companies the malls etc. The government will not build hotels in Orlu. We seem to love this idea that everything is a government project on this forum.

I'm not into politics and never will be so I don't know what you're talking about.
Also, stop talking about Orlu like it's a dead zone lol. It's only on this forum that Orlu is some type of desert. Your village and Orlu onye ka ibe ya? The world is moved forward by ideas and too many believe their complaints are ideas.

Bro the dude or dudette you responded with the above post is a loser. I can bet he\she has no block of his\her own in either Orlu or Okigwe. He or she fights political war on a useless forum instead of taking his\her fight to government house in Owerri. He\she attempts to crave for pity but looks pathetic.

You even have time to be responding to him. Seeing his rubbish posts alone irritates me. He wants Owerri to be reduced to the level of Orlu so he can feel happy. If he is sensible, he will be advocating for his people to bring their investments home the way Nnewi people did.

Orlu people has dominated governance in Imo state since 1999 yet he lacks the understanding to acknowledge that.

That guy is a nuisance and everyone should ignore him totally, if he continues to post rubbish and no one responds to him, he will get tired and disappear.

IMO STATES RECORDS HIGHEST UNEMPLOYMENT RATE

The National Bureau of Statistics said that Nigeria’s unemployment rate has increased to 27.1 percent in the second quarter of 2020 from 23.1 per cent recorded in 2018.
The agency which confirmed this in a statement titled ‘Labor Force Statistics: Unemployment and Underemployment Report’ which was released on Friday added that the number of persons in the economically active or working-age population (15 – 64 years of age) increased to 116,871,186 from 115,492,969 in 2018.
According to the report, more than 17 million Nigerians have become unemployed since December 2014, while the total working-age population has grown by almost the same number in those six years.
“For the period under review, Q2 2020, the unemployment rate among young people (15-34 years) was 34.9 per cent, up from 29.7 per cent, while the rate of underemployment for the same age group rose to 28.2 per cent from 25.7 per cent in Q3 2018.
“These rates were the highest when compared to other age groupings.
“The number of persons in the labour force (i.e. people within ages 15 -64, who are able and willing to work) was estimated to be 80,291,894. This was 11.3 per cent less than the number of persons in Q3 2018.
“Of this number, those within the age bracket of 25-34 were highest, with 23,328,460 or 29.1 per cent of the labour force.
“Of this number, 35,585,274 were full-time employed (i.e. worked 40+ hours per week), while 22,942,003 were underemployed (i.e. working between 20-29 hours per week).” the statement said.
Also, it’s been reported that Imo State has the highest rate of unemployment with 48.7 per cent, followed by Akwa-Ibom State and Rivers State with 45.2 per cent and 43.7 per cent respectively. Anambra recorded the lowest rate of unemployment at 13.1 percent.
“For underemployment, the state which recorded the highest rate was Zamfara with 43.7 percent, while Anambra State recorded the lowest underemployment rate, with 17 percent in Q2 2020.
“A total number of 2,736,076 did not do any work in the last seven days preceding the survey due to the lockdown but had secure jobs to return to after the lockdown,” the statement added.

Dedetwo,

proeast, & co.

So long as you believe in having Owerri many years of modern development ahead of Orlu and rest of Imo state, you shall have no sleep, neither online or on your beds.

I have travelled all over the world, there is no country or region with the type of disparity in development standard between towns and villages, like we have in Imo state.

Owerri seizes all instruments that bring about modern development all for Owerri in Imo state.

You and your siblings must have attended tertiary education institutions scattered all over Owerri from your homes, saved money and get mass education in Owerri zone.
How do you rest in Owerri seeing that the advantages of closeness to tertiary education institutions that natives of Owerri enjoy are not available to natives of the other zones in Imo state? Most greedy and primitive lot.

U advise federal government to allow international flights in Imo when port Harcourt international airport is less than 2hours drive away same with Enugu airport?

To me since Imo state has alot of educated people they should train them in tech and agriculture.

Since our land mass is small animal husbandry won't be bad. We should try and divert the culture of livestock always coming from the north. We too can also produce live stock.

We should also try to stop this Yahoo lifestyle. Imo youths are no longer entrepreneur minded, instead of them to develop plans on how to become the next big thing. They develop further plans on how to discover new internet scam ways.

Apart from government and private sector. I discovered that in owerri fraud is the next biggest employer

This act needs to stop. Seriously almost every meter u go u see an autonomous community with it's own king. The moment a village is becoming developed and maybe one clan is doing better than the other but the other clan is holding leadership. Next thing u know the clan doing better starts advocating to form it's own autonomous community.

This act really needs to stop, this proliferation of autonomous community is part of what's finishing land in our region.

If for example a community of 50 plots of land with amenities like church, community hall, palace, houses scattered within it, since the community has a large land mass those amenities will be scattered and their would still be lots of land for other things in the area example agriculture since it's a rural area.

But once that community divides into maybe 2 u have 2 autonomous communities and they start building their own separate Hall's, churches palace, market etc. The land keeps diminishing with no real added value to it
