It will also monitor money inflows for terrorism, subversion especially by some foreign ngo.

You cant implement such a law without carrying them along in the formulation of such policy.

This is a deliberate attack to control churches especially as the man is an alhaji.

We keep creating problems for ourselves in this country, and foolishly so. From observation, Moslems are very jealous of the Churches, especially in their ability to raise funds. I'm saying this as a neutral.

In a country where there is socio-religious tension already, the ideal thing to do is to involve them on the issues and let them make suggestions. Then you enact a law. That way they are part and parcel of it.

What this country needs most is to accept its diversity and imbibe peaceful coexistence, especially from the top. Such act divides people and it isn't wise.

Those against CAMA Amendment are either ill-informed or mischievous.

In sane societies like USA, South Africa, UK, Europe, Australia etc, there are agencies that regulate religious organisations, CSOs and NGOs. Why should Nigeria's be different?

Some people said it is a fight against the church, and I ask, which Church?

If the Bible is right, the Church is the congregation of believers. It is not a building or religious organisation. And believers don't need any formal nomenclature or organisation to worship. The Bible says where two or three are gathered, CHRIST is present. The Bible never said people should establish organisations, neither did the early Christians establish organisations.

Now let's look this....

A man wakes up on a faithful morning, he approaches CAC (Government) to register his organisation, which he names XYZ Church

He lists himself, his wife, Kids or associates as Trustees

He gets certificate from the government to operate...

Yet, he argues with the government that they have no right to regulate the activities of the same organisation that he went to government to register.

He shouts persecution, war against the church and God.

Meanwhile, he is the final authority and CEO in the religious organisation, and won't hesitate to show the exit door to anyone that questions his authority.

The irony is that he abides to similar laws abroad...

As much as I'm not a fan of this administration, I support this CAMA... Although Nigeria politicians are useless

FACT:

FG or any other government cannot regulate the "Church" (congregation of believers). Even the Roman government couldn't regulate the Church.

However, government can only regulate religious organisations (formal organizations) that are registered with the government in line with the constitutional mandate.

The rule is simple, don't register your organisation with government if you don't want to be regulated... Same way you don't register your business and NGO with government if you don't want their regulation...

But the noise of these Christians is too much as if the law only applicable to churches only .They will only blame government for everything they lack but failed to Question where they contributed their major hard earn resource to simply because of religious sentiment .

Yeah they have one of the lowest crime rate, but they don't talk about how cold the citizens are to each other especially strangers, and how aloof they are in the interests of others, or the loneliness that can kill you and also the prejudice.

You have not been there to know how unfriendly the place is and how its almost impossible for citizens themselves to have close friends. Or how crimes are usually reported but hardly investigated.

But no, what do you do, you just regurgitate what you have heard online and try to sound smart.

You can try Sweden.

In what ways have they protected Nigerians from the stings of the Dezianis,Magus,Sambos and their cohots? Let them perfect the cleansing of their homes first before they start the religious witch-hunting.
CAMA is not really evil if done with a pure intention but from this government, we all know where they are coming from and going to.

FG is the greatest scammer of all time

Govt is a scam in Nig. Agreed.

But they serve some purposes no matter how failed they are.

What purpose do religious places serve with the tithes/offering they collect.

Instead their heads build universities that their members cant attend and compete in wearing designer Gucci like hushpuppy, buy two ot more private jets like Tinubu and Davido's father, ...
However dilapidated, many ppl won't have had a secondary and tertiary education if these churches are the only ones providing such. Gone are the days when we have good missionary schools that are almost free with European standards.

Has God changed?

These men live flamboyantly even when they have never done any job in their entire lives except for being pastors. Muslims are exempted from this. I haven't seen any Imam having a jet.

Religious bodies should be regulated. Betterment of a country starts lil by Lil.

With all the taxes you've paid, what did you gain? I'm sure you are paddling on a canoe to work whenever it rains in your area and sleep in blackout.

Your civil financial obligations are being mismanaged before your eyes, you did nothing, but to go out in the sun to vote in another thief.

But a voluntary fundraising organisation is where your bones are strong and your mouth sharp. Have you asked them to go enact same law on Ikoyi Club or IBB golf club or your old students association?

You better go check up your brain. It's drifting left.

Oga don't be half clever. CAMA is not the end game. Taxation of religious institutions (Churches especially) is the end game. CAMA is just a means to that end. Once the Federal scammers get their prying eyes into financial inflow of Churches, the next thing they will introduce is taxation. Because your govt is looking for more pockets to rob to maintain their opulent and wasteful lifestyle of living like emperors in the land. So they need more funds. Same way LASG when they got their eyes into how much e-hailing companies were making, next thing na jumbo tax they slammed on them. But the ones they saw they couldn't implement tax on without it backfiring on their head, they shut them down aka Gokada and friends. CAMA is nothing but a step towards taxing religious bodies. Freedom of Worship is a fundamental human rights and religous bodies fall under NON PROFIT organization anywhere in the world. Taxation of religous bodies is equal to religious oppression
both parties are theives so nothing concern us. Muslims dont seem to be crying

I respond to those querying whether churches are actually regulated abroad. All Nigerian church franchises abroad are regulated by the government. Their audited finances are made public and are verified by the government. Please find examples below:

https://www.thecable.ng/uk-charity-commission-indicts-christ-embassy-of-fraud

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/charity-inquiry-christ-embassy/charity-inquiry-christ-embassy

For those that do not understand, the UK charity commission is the body responsible for ensuring that all registered charities like churches, mosques and NGOs are run transparently.

https://beta.charitycommission.gov.uk/charity-details?regid=1147718&subid=0 This is Living Faith Church UK audited accounts made public on a website where any church member can access.
https://www.herald.ng/winners-chapel-london-uk-charities-commission-exonerates-living-faith-worldwide/ They were subject of investigation by this same agency some years back and were exonerated.

http://saharareporters.com/2020/08/20/mountain-fire-ministries-still-under-interim-management-%E2%80%94uk-charity-commission This is Mountain of Fire and Miracles story with the same UK Charity commission

https://www.christiantoday.com/article/pentecostal-churchs-bank-account-frozen-by-charity-commission-amid-serious-regulatory-concern/128877.htm This is RCCG in UK.

https://www.charitydata.ca/charity/the-redeemed-christian-church-of-god-canada-rccg-canada/867372567RR0001/ This is the Charity data for Canada,

If you know any website in Nigeria that can give this kind of data for any religious organisation or NGO, please feel free to share!
