then it was rumored that it is Stephen Keshi that tried to block chidi from being invited for the world cup finals as he wasn't part of the qualifications to the Mundial and Tunisia 94. He was part of the Beveren team that had a good campaign in the champions league prior to USA 94 with an outstanding performance at the heart of the club's defence. His performance then make him not to be overlooked for the world cup by westehoff

This isn't the first time Chidi Nwanu has commented on the shenanigans behind the scenes of the national team. I remember in one of his indepth interviews, for complete football magazine in the 90's, where he specifically pointed out Keshi as one of his nemesis who tried to block his path into the super eagles.

It is no secret that the likes of Stephen Keshi had a huge influence in the team operations. I'm not against the man (RIP). I will be eternally grateful for his delivering of our third AFCON title. The case is if the likes of Nwanu and the latter day Taye Taiwo can state to bear witness to such unscrupulous dealings then it warrants at least a discussion and even investigation if our football is allowed to grow organically with the discovery and opportunities rendered to true talents.
