helinues:Story, no institution in Nigeria be it federal, state or NASS has ever abided by the law, not even the President. May be that is why the churches don't take the government serious. |

My problem is government that have found it difficult to manage tax payers money now want to bring accountability to the church, over time I have been a strong critic of the way churches are run in Nigeria, but not for this corrupt laden government to tell me about accountability in the church, what has this government accounted for? Recovered Looted funds have been relooted again, this pastor's or businessmen built the church from scratch and they have been able to manage the affairs very well, free thinkers should not be confused because mosques was attached to it , the aim is churches mosques don't generate enough funds government can control the target is church so don't get it twisted. |

CodeTemplar:You can use your money to establish a bank, but once you start receiving deposits for m outsiders and members of the public, you are expected to be regulated by SEC, CBN, NSE etc. If you have a church or mosque in your house, for members of your family but you don't receive donations or gifts from members of the public, your books are not expected to be made public. UBA foundation, MTN foundation, Leventis Foundation, Dangote Foundation, Ford Foundation etc are charitable Organizations they receive donations and gifts from Businesses and members of the public for worthy causes like Health, education, Science, environment, philanthropy etc and their books are open. Most of the orthodox Churches like Anglican, Methodist, Baptist, Catholic etc have in house mechanisms for corporate governance and accountability, which made it to separate the Pastors assets from the Churches assets. |

donnie:CAMA isn’t just anti-Church; it is anti-independence of any organisation which the government can shut down if it doesn’t like you/ what you do/ if you don’t toe it’s line. It is anti-democracy. I won’t be surprised if this was adopted or modified from Communist China or something. |

emmanuelewumi:What about market groups or social groups who receive cash contribution? Do they also need to be monitored. What about husband and wife with project account? I guess they all come under the category of forced contribution too like you like to paint the church. |

Mmm...Oga this video no follow...this is what we will do that will lead to the destruction of Christians in this country.... Trying to at every point prove unnecessary superiority of doctrine will not help our cause as christians living with desperate and conning neighbors. We must resist this evil in our means...when churches are bombed in the North, they are not attacked on the basis of denomination but basically because of the religion you hold. So this our unnecessary attitude that is full with pride and arrogance would not take us anywhere as children of God. Whatever church you attend...the key is...do you believe in Jesus Christ? Do you believe in God? If Yes. Then that's all... What other believe you hold would be made clearer to us on judgement day... Our mode of worship may differ and how we chose to interpret his leading may also differ, it is allowed because of our flesh but it doesn't stop us acting as one on issues that affect the faith. We ain't rivals for goodness sake. This is how the devil is weakening the church today. We must wake up. Wake up all. Please, weak up. |

This G. Os are very fraudulent that's why they won't let government or any regulatory body put attention to their activities. How did Oyedipo build those estates and churches every where in NIGERIA? What job is he doing? What is the name of the company he owns? How did he pay back loans from the bank? The answer is simple .. people's money collected from them using reverse psychology with Bible. |

We can’t even hold our government accountable but we want to hold those we give 100naira offering on Sunday accountable to us.... I would have been happy if this government was an accountable one ......but we all know how this will end |

It's quite ridiculous how some persons react to matters concerning the church. When you go to church you are not compelled to give and many criticizing it don't even pay tithes or offerings. The government should know the reason why they where elected and stick to same. No good road, no basic amenities, school children kidnapped every now and then, billions leaving the economy via various government agencies, zero tolerance for the rule of law, election violence, yet instead of addressing these issues dumb laws are being enacted by a dumb government. This government is known to cripple any sector they lay hold on, was church issues part of their political agenda, have they executed the agendas they said they would solve when elected? Why are they afraid of the Church to want to disintegrate it? They brought ruga before, can they equally allow pigs to be reared close to their mosques? Many persons are being displaced daily, yet no remedy. Fuel price keeps rising. Give a stack illiterate power and he will continue in his folly. They better steer clear from the House of God and face their own issues. |

In my opinion, one of the hallmarks of confused leadership or Government is misplaced priorities. Even the blind knows that the running of the Church does not in any way come close to the front burning issues of insecurity, corruption, economic challenges, unemployment among many others that have plagued this country for decades and hindered its development. In the face of meagre resources and the need for urgent solutions to the problems of Nigeria, we should scale our major problems and tackle them in order of priority. A well revered former President even created a 7 point agenda of focus. Only a Government without focus would place Church management as its priority in a nation that still does not know its population as we speak, where voters' numbers still exceed number of voters' cards, where people are being slaughtered on a daily basis in the North and South, where majority of citizens are living under a $1 a day. Let's identify 20% of our challenges as a nation responsible for 80% of our problems per the Pareto principle and face them. Another issue that surprises me is the level of hatred for each other in this country and on the continent. Some of these Churches would do better than the today Government in managing the resources of the people. Universities with stellar performance, thousands of people on the church payroll, multiple families being fed and many of them paid all through the COVID-19 period. Some have built roads, some have scholarship and grants and have contributed to the society in many ways than can be listed. More importantly a thief enters the prison and comes out more hardened, enters a bible believing church and comes out reformed. Yet the Church is the problem. Shouldn't we study how they do these things perhaps we can learn something from them that can help the country as a whole? Why must black people always gang up to destroy things that work rather than try to understand it and make it better? When will we start consulting adequately before making laws? If the Government had genuine intentions and concerns, why didn't they invite all stakeholders represented by CAN and discuss their worries and then come up with solutions? Is that not what a responsible and reasonable Government would have done? In a nation that is very sensitive to spiritual issues, the last thing we need now are divisive decisions. Someone, sets his money on fire and another person is bent on having headache over it. Agreed, the person who set the money on fire MAY be crazy, but the one who gives himself headache to the point of being sick over it is CERTAINLY mad. No Church puts a gun to people to give. People do so because of their beliefs and the best you can do if you believe that God exists is to pray for him to open the eyes of the people. A God that needs human assistance is no god. If you believe there is no God, then live and let live. In Yoruba they say, " Falana gbo tire, tara eni la koko n gbo". We need to calm down and mind our businesses. If Pastors have personal income, they should be taxed. If they own businesses they should pay taxes but wisdom dictates that with the current leadership of this country being predominantly muslims, they should steer off controversial issues that will underline suspicions already on ground. The country is too divided already and what we need right now is a way to bring everyone back together through all inclusive policies. I rest my case. |

Greedy Nigerian clergymen are only taking advantage of foolish/gullible idiots to sacm them It is easier to be fooled than to be convinced that one has been fooled. They way they display arrogance is unprecedented. The way the display holier than thou attitude is second to none. The way they embrace this foreign religion is disturbing Even the way they describe god makes it look like god is in thier pocket. No wonder one said god drank tea with him in his house. They are rejecting CAMA for obvious reasons |

We as children of God are to lend to Nations Deuteronomy 15:6. If Nigeria is in dire need they should come and collect loan from the Church and stop using backdoor to get money from us. They want to come and corrupt the Church with their confusion. |

most of the church policies ,by and large are ANTI PEOPLE ,MANIPULATIVE AND EVIL .businessmen and bareface thieves in cassock ,white suits, and other funny garbs ,men with DEAD CONSCIENCE,mindlessly and brazenly busy fleecing their own people week in ,week out hiding under the guise of being called by God to 'deliver'the masses, especially the gullible member of the society (just like polithiefcians empty promises),selling 'hope'and salvation'in exchange for tithes and offering and other useless seeds sowing bulsh1t!! need to be checkmated!God don't spend money,.most of your money end up in their private account ,used in lavish lifestyle, buying exotic cars ,sending their children to good school abroad while majority of their supposedly 'saved'poor members could only watch from afar, wishing ,hoping, praying, the more wishing.. and you still get to watch. those children publicized and televised white wedding!haha you fool!that's where y'all money goes!these men need to be checkmated and property too!the weak and unwary must be protected at all cost from these scammers! CAMA is long over due and must applied to other religion body as well. |

CodeTemplar:Yet his ministry did not exempt him from paying tax under Roman law. Any church that doesn't want to comply with this law is free to delist itself as a charitable entity and become a tax paying organisation with greater autonomy. As the saying goes, he who pays the Piper dictates the tune. The point is, if an organisation wants to enjoy the tax exempt benefits afforded by the government, then it should be ready for some government oversight. |
