Igbos are not tolerant yet they want biafra. I have never seen a tribe more confused
This thing tire me o. So, they have been marginalizing their women all these decades and have the mouth to say their ethnic group is being marginalized in Nigeria. Maybe if they put their home in order with justice and fairness, they too wouldn't be marginalized. Nature has a way of making us pay the price for our stupidity. Don't they know what a woman represent? The carrier of human earthly vessel of procreation as ordained by Olodumare. You can cheat them. In Yoruba creation story, when all the male Orisas (the chosen ones) ignored Osun (a female Orisa), they paid the price because nothing ever work well on earth because of their actions. They returned to Oludumare to seek His audience on why things were going wrong. Then He asked "where is Osun?" And they responded as if she was not important for the tasks on earth and that they did not think it necessary to invite her along. Oludumare simply laughed at them and said nothing will ever work well except Osun was there with them. So, be fair to you women and see how much rewarding it would be. Look at Rwanda today. The parliament is dominated by women (@ 62%), and in fact the government is dominated by women.

IT IS INEFFECTIVE AND HOLDS NO REGARD.

THE ANCIENT IGBO PEOPLE HAVE THEIR LAWS WHICH IS RECOGNISED BY THE NIGERIA CONSTITUTION.

A YORUBA MAN SEATING IN SUPREME COURT CANNOT AFFECT OUR CUSTOMS AND TRADITION.
You are too focused on tribalism. The supreme court remain the supreme court irrespective of the tribes of the judges that make up the supreme court.

U ARE AN ILLITERATE.

THEIR ARE MANY OF YOUR KIND HERE ON NAIRALAND, TALKING ABOUT THINGS U KNOW NOTHING ABOUT.

LET ME ASK U A LEGAL QUESTION, SINCE U WANT TO GO DOWN THAT ROUTE.

IS NIGERIA NOW PRACTICING COMMON LAW?

U KEEP TALKING ABOUT A JUDGEMENT THAT HOLDS NO WATER LEGALLY,(INEFFECTIVE) TO IGBO CUSTOMARY LAW THAT IS ENSHRINED IN THE CONSTITUTION OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA, IN BLACK AND WHITE FOREVER.

THAT JUDGEMENT MY FRIEND, IS NOT LAW.

IGBO CUSTOMARY LAW IS CONSTITUTIONAL LAW.

How does divorcing husband give a woman right to his property? Iboman help clarify.
If it's was court marriage and the lady in question is knowledgeable enough to know how the divorce system works and she can get certain percentage of the husband's wealth and landed investment.

Brothers of the deceased chase both the widow and her daughters away from the property of their father. If the widow is young she herself becomes property to be inherited by one of the deceased's brother. Its not about a man's will in iboland. Fvk that. The culture is the will. The culture says both wife and daughter shall not partake in the inheritance. CNN has done a coverage on this before. This is not a secret. No need to twist it.
for the last time, stop portraying the Igbos in bad light. The Yorubas are no better.

Thanks godness someone responded appropriately. I just asked her a simple question: how many rich ladies are willing to date broke guys and marry them sef? How many? I mean, in this part of the world, the size of a man's pocket is what is used to rate him as being a 'man'. Even many ladies who are well to do will simply lockup. Most rich ladies most times go with rich guys. But it is almost a norm for a rich guy to date and marry a broke girl and establish her.

This was what started this whole thing and since it is changing, we hope the bills too can change to be shared by both genders.

A guy wey just finished wedding, he complained so much how the wedding drained him. I laughed, same way it happened to me.
I find it more appropriate you didnt even personalize the question to her cos we know she can't date broke boiz, I have been in different r/ship with difference babes all working class. i don't even know there salary not to talk of collectin #1 inside grin ... buh dey we still seek support every now n then which makes me wonder where there salary dey go grin growing up whatever money my mom spent in my dad absence naa borrow, book keeping she go collect am grin ... n i still see that even in my married friends home, except d man naa handicap or has no means to payback the woman will forfeit her money. i don giveup on naija gurls matter tey tey .. God keep blessing be my only prayer, it pointless prayin 4 dem.

The Quran declares:

“For men there is a share from what their parents and close relatives leave, and for women there is a share from what their parents and close relatives leave, be it little or considerable; a definite share.”

It is not us that told you to marry very dependent women and take care of 99.9% of your wedding bills. Carry your cross and stop whining.

However, it remains a myth that most Nigerian men are carrying over 80% of expenses. Where una see the money? All the women selling in the market and taking insults from market leaders are doing it because they have rich horsebands like you that can shoulder 80% of recurrent bills without flinching. C’mon go sleep. grin grin
swear down, I hate this shít about you. Can't you for once in your life celebrate this rare victory for women rather than sounding so much frustrated. The judge behind the landmark is a man & that should get your brain thinking beyond bashing men.
don't talk about women selling in the market till you know what it takes to build a home.

kiss the truth!
