Until they deal with the root causes of the conflicts: Fulani culture of migration and cattle herdering, environmental degradation and deforestation in the Sahel and extreme poverty and illiteracy across the Sahel, nothing will change.

Due to very low adult literacy levels in the Sahel and Northern Nigeria, it is very unlikely that the economies in that region will grow sustainably in the short-to-medium term.
You are correct but the problem with the "Northernern Fulanis" is that they dont know, they dont want to know and they wont allow those who know to teach them! How will or can anyone one assist such backward and violent lot?
Best thing and this is what l think would happen eventually: Nigeria will breakup in a violent civil war, very soon!

The current status where Fulanis just kill people anyhow, cannot be sustained for long anymore, the Fulanis and everyone knows this.

Most especially, Buhari knows this and that is why he is rapidly empowering his people with Military and Police formations, that is why he is disarming Southerners and Christian groups while turning a blind eye to the acquisition and use of weapons by Northerners, Fulanis especially. That is why Buhari is aligning with Fulanis in Mali, Senegal and Guinea in particular, to create a regional force that can be called upon, when the shit hits the fan.
You would wonder why he had dashed over One Million Dollars of Nigeria's money, wealth mostly from Southern Nigeria, to support democracy" in Guinea? undecided

I just hope Southern Leaders are not too timid and too selfish (or even back-stabbing, like OBJ) to plan and defend their Region or build up/develop their own region when they get to Power
.
These Fulanis want to revive slavery in the 21st century and they mean business.

I think the South is fully aware of Sanusi , El-Rufai and Buhari political and military agenda, that's why regional security agencies are being created and request for state police is on the agenda across the South.

The problem is that the Fulani's will always lose in the end, they were thrown out of CAR , they are being killed in B Faso and Mali and have lost all their political leverage in both countries as they now aligned themselves with terrorist groups.

In Guinea , despite being the largest ethnic block in that country (40%), they have been checked mate by a collision of minority groups that would rather support, the corrupt incumbent president rather than a Fulani president.

The problem is that the Southern leaders need to focus on economic empowerment and capacity development, there is no excuses for the rampant corruption in the Southern and North Central states.

Economic empowerment will always defeat political power since an army cannot operate on an empty stomach.

So you want to compare people aggitating that SOME OF the resources taken on FROM THEIR LAND be used to develop their land with blood-sucking demons from another country whose only aim to to kill and snatch the land of the indigenes?
If at this your age, you dont know the difference between a FREEDOM FIGHTER (ND millitants) and a TERRORISTS like this foreign terrorist Fulani Herdsmen Buhari brought into Nigeria, then you are as stupid as you sound.
Some of you need to have your head examined by a shrink.
Who's this crackhead yapping his smelly lid wide open?

Did you just justify the crime and murder of ND militants simply because they're "agitating" about national resources in their land?

Murder is murder whatever the underlying cause and whoever committed it. But then again there's nothing new in your hypocritical tepid outburst; after all nigerian christians are known for being duplicitous charlatans.

If your pillaging and murdering militants are justified in their lord's murder then so are bandits and herdsmen.

Now, GTFOH.

It's sad that these people are falling for this Taqqiya called peace accord which implies the perpetrators keeping areas they have captured by killing and driving out the indigenous people and going Scot free without prosecution for murder.
By implication, this is what Dr Mailafia is saying of phase one. Fulani invaders are going to get more land for RUGA in that axis.
Phase 2 will see them moving into urban areas and doing the same thing then another peace accord will be signed.
Then the leadership of the urban areas will be shared between the Atyap and the Fulanis, then as time goes on the traditional institution of the Atyap will be degraded and the Fulani Emir will be given influence with federal government cover.
Ask Yoruba people in Ilorin and the Nupe tribe how they got to be ruled by Fulanis. The real Nupe royalty was banished to Patigi from Bida by Fulani jihadists, then Patigi was made a local government ward in Kwara state instead of Niger state by military regime
It is important to note that those calling others settlers are themselves settlers and not the true indigenes of Southern Kaduna; by immigration many of them migrated from other parts of the country e.g. Taraba, Adamawa, Kano etc (some came in the morning some in the afternoon, so to speak).

Conversely, it is historically on record that Southern Kaduna was founded by Fulani tribe called KACHECHERE - let anyone who disagrees prove otherwise.

In fact most of the major towns in Southern Kaduna were founded by Hausa Fulani, eg: Zango, Kachia, Unguwan Rimi, Zankuwa, Kagarko, Jere and Jama’a (Kafanchan) resulting in the Hausa Fulani being the largest single tribe in Southern Kaduna.

It is unfortunate that outsiders, especially from the south along with their influential press have taken sides in the conflict (in favour of the Christian settlers) and therefore selling a completely different narrative based on their religious and ethnic prejudices against the mainly Muslim Hausa Fulani.

Contrary to the ongoing false narrative; it is the latter communities that were being displaced from their settlements; towns like Kafanchan etc have been taken over by the Christian settlers - even when the Muslims try to rebuild their burnt/demolished houses and shops, Christian youths are organised to destroy them as quickly as they are being put up.

Killings of Muslims by the Christian tribes have largely been ignored or under reported by the biased Christian dominated media; as opposed to when the latter are on the receiving end e.g.
1. Kasuwan Magani crisis of 1981
2. Gure-Kahugu crisis of 1984
3. Yarkasuwa crisis in 1986
4. Kafanchan crisis of 1987
5. Zangon Kataf crisis of 1992
6. Kafanchan Shiite crisis of 1996
7. Issuance of staff of office to the Emir of Jema’a Crisis in 1999
8. The Sharia Riots of 2000
9. Bajju-Ikulu crisis of 2001
10. The Kidache in Chawai Chiefdom violence of 2010; and
11. The 2011 Post-Election Violence which led to the killings of over 2,000 persons, many of them trans-human Fulani herdsmen that were unfortunately returning to neighbouring countries, and happened to be passing through Kaduna State.

This metamorphosed into subsequent skirmishes and recent conflicts such as the:
(a) alleged destruction of Kafanchan Praying Ground in 2013;
(b) alleged killing of an Okada rider in Kafanchan in 2013;
(c) conflict over Eid Praying Ground in Kachia 2014;
(d) attacks in Ninte (Godogodo) in 2016;
(e) Kafanchan Demonstration and subsequent attack on the Governor’s convoy, in 2016;
(f) attacks in Goska in 2016;
(g) attack of His Highness the Emir of Jama’a at Samaru Kataf, 2016;
(h) the Kasuwan Magani crises of 26th February, 2018, 18th October, 2018 in Kajuru Local Government Area which has continued to linger; and
(i) most recently in 2020, Zangon Kataf, Kauru, Kaura and Jema’a Local Government Areas which have continued to cause conflict and exacerbate the circle of attacks and counter attacks.

With regards to Mailafiya; he represent among those sabotaging peace and stoking the endless cycle of unrest with the aid of the already mentioned biased media by deliberately spreading falsehood to further incite his ppl and to curry sympathy and support from the greater Christian world.
Imagine; a man who sensationally told the world that he and his group (whatever group that is) have their own intelligence network, and that they sat with repentant Boko Haram fighters, not once, not even twice, and the repentant insurgents told them that a northern state governor is the commander of Boko Haram, and that even during the Covid-19 lockdown, airplanes were moving everywhere distributing arms to them in preparation for a civil war in 2022, but now he is telling us that he got his info from market traders in his village? Really?

''I got my information on Boko Haram from some traders in my village market when I went to buy fonio (acha).... I agreed to an online radio interview with people unknown to me from Lagos, but I did not know that they were recording it. I thought it was for a local FM radio in Lagos....''
~ Obadiah Mailafiya

There have been official reports where the likes of Mailafiya e.g. General Zamani Lekwot who were clearly indicted for inciting killings but have since gone scot free or in case of the latter, pardoned by the govt - how else then do you expect peace from the Hausa Fulani - who evidently seem to be more than capable of fighting back.

@TOPIC

This latest move for peace between the warring parties is a welcomed development and should be encouraged by the government and all peace loving individuals and organisations - including CAN, who seem to be part of the (inciting) problem.

There is no tribe in Nigeria called Hausa/Fulani, you people should stop subduing the Hausa majority by this fraudulent amalgamation. Have your own defined identity, except you want others to refer to themselves as Yoruba/Ijaw or Igbo/Idoma embarassed

What you have here is the historical version of victors bent on land grabbing using violence backed up by state apparatus.
The aim was to deal with the indigenous people and call for a 'peace' accord from a position of strength, the Fulani group follows Shinzu the Act of War while the natives are been turned into subdued yielding pacifists

Refer to the issues raised and should you have any counter arguments against them pls feel free to do so; or otherwise do not distract us with frivolities, such as the identity of the Hausa Fulani - which adds nothing to the discussion.

BTW, if any group; whether Yorubas & Ijaws or Igbos & Idomas etc should feel sufficiently close enough (like the Hausa & Fulani) then they too are free to identify themselves as one - who are you to tell them otherwise?

Stop sniffing Cow-Piss, my friend.
After annoucing it, what will he do with the indigenous people on the land?
Kill all of them or load them into a Trailer and dump them into the river?

You these Northerners need to be deported out fo Nigeria, with how backward your reasoning level are
. grin grin
You talk as if this is new! Govt will do the same thing they have been doing when they acquire land! Just the same thing! If you don't know what govt did, go and ask what govt did when they acquired land for the schools you attended!

Nigeria officially refer to the 2 groups as Hausa/Fulani because they are linked. Most Hausa communities are led by Fulani elite.

In this modern age of Drones and Broadband Internet, do you need to be in kaduna to know what is happening in Kaduna or what type of archaic Northerner are you sef?
This so-called process is hypocritical and designed to achieve a fait-accompli whereby the invader, these murderous, terrorist Fulani Herdsmen keep the land they stole on the blood of the innocent indigenes of Southern Kaduna, so it is all about LAND, just like RUGA is.

Abeg shift, all you these terrorists hiding on Nairaland
So, since you don't need to be in Kaduna to know what is happening in Kaduna, name the villages that were taken over by violence and given to Fulani. Simple request
