The founding Director General of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum, Earl Osaro Onaiwu has asked the Edo State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Hon. Johnson Alalibo to step aside.

This call is coming on the heels of a startling revelation that the REC was an aspirant in the 2015 Bayelsa State gubernatorial election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Onaiwu said the discovery of Mr. Alalibo's political slant has cast a heavy shadow of doubt on his neutrality and capacity to act as an unbiased umpire in the September 19 Edo State Governorship election.

He warned if the INEC REC does not immediately recuse himself from the process, the Commission's headquarters should redeploy him far away from Edo State to avoid chaos and total breakdown of confidence in the electoral process.

Onaiwu affirmed that the people of Edo State cannot afford to have a tainted and disillusioned arbiter superintend over a most critical election in the history of Edo State.

If true, then he is already partisan

If INEC didn't bow to APC pressure to remove Mike Igini as REC of Akwa Ibom despite his much publicized ties with PDP, I don't think they should let PDP armtwist them in this Edo issue unless the general belief that INEC is working for PDP has some truth in it.

Show us your proof that Mike Igini has ties with PDP, or is it because he refused to rig Akwa Ibom for your party.

Edolites will resist APC by all means. This man should be redeployed. We need a neutral man like Mike Igini.

I have said it before that apc can not win governorship election in edo state, the least they can do is to rigged the election and that will be rejected by edo people.

It is very important everybody knows nobody can rig this election.
