I find some of the replies in this thread shocking. This country is truly finished if so many people cannot tell right from wrong and are happy to justify criminality as wisdom. If anyone working for a proper organisation or company does what the OP is being advised to do, they would be fired and rightfully so. A company or business person will calculate and set their retail price to make a profit and be competitive. Inflating that price so you can pocket the difference can end up costing the business sales as you might lose valuable customers and create an impression of the goods being overpriced. Any money you take from a business that is not recorded is theft. This principal is the same all over the world apart from in Nigeria apparently. Why are we even talking about corrupt politicians if we find this behaviour permissible? What is the difference between what the op did and a politician inflating the cost of a project and pocketing the difference? I am sick and tired of this nonsense. A country without a conscience is well and truly lost. Stealing does not make you smart. If you are really smart, you should try and create wealth on your own without robbing someone else blind. This mentality is the reason millions of Nigerians are living in abject poverty without even the most basic of amenities. The problem is that most of your leaders have the same mentality as some of the people commenting here. 6 Likes |

/ Give your oga what is due to him. If you must give him the money, give it as a profit you just made but not as money saved. If you give it as money saved, oga will believe there is more where it came from. Paranoia and suspicion set in. You will be the loser. By the way, as an apprentice under your boss, there is no such thing as money saved. You shortchanged him. He knows but perhaps underestimated your greed. That's all. He was once an apprentice. Besides the bosses exchange notes and ideas among themselves. Be careful. / 2 Likes |

Hmm. I hope u are sure u didn't shortchange him unless you made extra profit from the normal profit u were expected to deliver. If u want to return his money. Return it the same way to were saving small small. Example: u said u gave him 400k and 500k. Next time u want to give him his 400k add 200k from the money u saved and give him 600k till u balance up. |

GuyWise101:if you like listen to stupid advise. As far as I'm concerned don't give your Oga the money.yousaid it's from profit. You did not steal from him, you only added to price and made profit. He might even fire you after you tell him thinking you have stolen much more from him. Just keep the money safely and when it's time start your own business No time 2 Likes |

GuyWise101:Provided say your oga money complete at the end of the day, you didn't steal anything from him. Your oga knows you sell above the fixed amount and that's why he gave you his own price and anything outside that isn't his business. 1 Like |

If you made this money thru an HONEST means maybe thru extra profit, I don't see any reason why you should give the money to your Oga as long as you are giving him good "returns from his business" ...... If deep down you're very honest with your business transaction then you absolutely have nothing to loss Telling him NOW might be too dangerous because he will never trust you and anything you do again..... My elder brother had similar experience, be WISE!! |

do you know that More than 95% of oga in the market that you can save this amount of money from is actually diabolic , forget church matter .the rules says that all money gotten from any means at all ,as far as you are under him belongs to him . that money you think he don't know ,he might actually know after all . better return his money directly or indirectly if you want to succeed in life , most people here don't understand what you are saying because the are not Igbo . oga remember the last day , I mean the day he will settle you , this issues might come up and ruin your life forever |

Guilt tripping I see!! Fine, I'd suggest to clear your chest and have a cool conscience, go to the bank and pay in the money into his account with an anonymous name, then locate his phone and delete the credit alert, because he may get wary and go to the bank to enquire who made such deposit into his account |

Bro,if you are adding your own profit after selling goods at the rate he told u to be selling and you are sure your oga,s business growth is not affected I advise you to keep that money if your mind carry it.If your mind don't carry it you should start adding it gradually to sales return to your oga. |

After reading the comments, I have come to conclusion by suggest two ways of returning the money. If you really wish to do so, firstly, ensure to do it after he might have settled you and must have established yours to safe yourself from agony of life and secondly, by put the money to his gains in batch while deliver his gains. Like addition of 100-200k monthly. Remember, the money is not even yours or the Oga but is for the esteem customers who you have given higher price than d normal. |

While let me clear your confusion , don't ever ever ever invest with that money . You can buy what you want with it like bus , car or even plot of land but don't invest that money on busines otherwise it would be a waste of resources. |
Re: Should I Give My Oga The N1.3M I Saved From His Business Or Do I Keep It? by gideonvalor98(m): 11:57pm On Aug 28, 2020 |
I will look into it this way; if the money is from the profit you get selling the goods higher than the amount you were told to sell it, I don't see this as a problem. Normally, you should have savings na, cos no matter what at least you will be seeing some change to keep and in this case for your master to put you in a separate shop this means you're of age and experienced in that business. Hence, you need to prepare for your freedom. So if you add few amount on the price you're to sell and it's not affecting your oga sales - it is good and not bad at all. But if you're stealing from his profits or sales of goods - that's bad and will not end well. If the last I mentioned is the case, return his money. You can do that by not getting caught. Get his account number and go to banks a bit far from where you are and deposit it into his account. You can do that in tranches and in different banks and in separate days |

What you have done is stealing ..Keeping someone else`s thing without their permission. But since you don`t want to use the word stealing..Can we say you`re saving your oga`s money like your mentor Abacha saved Nigeria`s money and using it to do giveaway...... 1 Like |

Op I want to believe that what you meant by profit is maybe ur oga asked you to sell fridge for 80k (time.e both cost price and interest) then in ur your wisdom and Igbo hustling spirit u convince buyers to may buy for 90k or more at the end of which u will drop ur oga's 80k or maybe a little more and keep ur hustle .... My brother where this is d case then there is no stealing... However just like u were advised don't ever think of showing or hinting ur oga about d money... Shalom |

Duru009: Please you guys should not mislead this young man. There's nothing like extra profit in this business. All accumulated profits as it has to do with the business must be remitted to the company(boss account) This is the crappy mindset many sold to some servants and they ended up being useless even until this day. And this are the people, that if guided properly could have grown and emerged to rank among the leading Nigerian entrepreneurs. The greatest secret for me remains to build a good rapport with the master and make him see reason that the success of his business depends on him and the success of his own (op) depends on the business and each should as well treat the next person nicely. 1 Like 1 Share |

skybeauty: Flawed! This is wrong!! Absolutely very wrong!!! We shouldn't encourage theft regardless of however it happens. He was called up to serve and learn the trade then, get settled and start up his own not to steal his boss money. Anything outside this model isn't part of the agreement of the Igbo apprenticeship. Don't pray you will found yourself in the shoes of his master. |

GuyWise101: Get sense in Jesus name Do u know how he will use to settle you, likely he will use 500k to 1million for using your 6yrs of your life. By then you can use the money to augment that one he gave you or you return that savings to him as you wish. Because the moment you return the money before settlement, he will tag you thief and even reason as if more is still out there unnoticed. Definitely it will affect the amount he will use to settle u. My opinion is for you to Keep the money and add it to whatever amount he will give u for settlement |

annayawchee: Where OP, come and listen to people with experience... On this kind of issue, it's best you listen to other Igbo men like you who have served or are still serving... Don't listen to ordinary people like me and most nairalanders that don't even know what you are talking about. |

GuyWise101: If it is the money you make from small business you do in his shop and you are sure that you are giving him his money cap.plete then I see no reason why you should give him the money. So long as you are giving him his complete money then you still need to hustle for your own while in his shop...... |

Return the money the way you gave him 500k and 400k or use the money to buy goods for the shop. If you eat haram( unlawful earning), you will also pay for it. |
