August 25, 2020 Tips on New Zealand Nursing Registration Pathway.
BNSc is required. IELTS 7 in each component and you are allowed to combine if the tests are taken within 12 months, OET is also accepted with a score of 350, combination is also accepted. These two basic requirements are the first thing that makes you eligible for registration. First Stage: The Nursing Council New Zealand (NCNZ) process is in three stages, firstly CGFNs credential evaluation(you need 5 documents for this, Nigeria nursing council verification, criminal check, photo ID like passport, employment reference and your ( IELTS/OET)
Second stage - they will send the report to NCNZ directly and the NCNZ will issue you a decision letter to apply for CAP - Competency Assessment Program. The decision letter usually comes with a list of accredited CAP provider and their tuition fee ranges from 6000-10000 nzd which has to be fully paid.
Third Stage: After you have gotten a CAP placement and you have paid, you need the school receipt , decision letter and your bank account statement that will show that you can pay for your flight and support yourself financially during your CAP.
Please note that you will not be paid during your CAP and you are not allowed to work in any capacity until you are fully registered and you will be on a visitor visa for that 3 months. After your CAP you will write a mini exam and your CAP provider will submit your application for your licence.
Fourth Stage: As soon as your licence comes usually within 2-3 weeks you can get a job and convert your visa to a work visa. This allows you to bring in your family and immediately you get a work visa you are eligible for residents permit as a skilled migrant. Nurses are given priority and you will get it faster than other non health professionals.
Important Notes:
NZ does not have an embassy in Nigeria but you can get your visa via south Africa. No stress, the courier will pick up your passport from your home drop it off in SA and they will call to inform you when the visa is ready and courier will return it back to you. When you are applying for your family, you can do it online for them since you are already in NZ.
Also, there are no agents to sponsor you in NZ the only agents available are Asians but you have to pay them but it doesn't worth it, the processing is easy and very transparent you can save that money for your upkeep or part of your CAP fee.
CAP classroom lecture is only for 2 weeks of basic nursing procedures like vital signs and few pharmacology calculations, it's a time for you to shine because I know Nigerian nurses are intelligent.
Tips On Australia Nursing Registration Pathway:
For now NZ route is the cheapest and easiest way to get in to Australia registration pathway through their trans Tasman agreement. With your NZ licence no exams required, you only need to pay a token to get your Australia registration.
If you have post basic nursing please do not apply for registration with it only apply for RN registration, the speciality experience will help you get a job in that field and from there you can study to get their own post graduate certificate if you wish. And if you're already registered in an English speaking country and wants to relocate to NZ, you can get a waiver for English proficiency but other processing remains same
On a lighter note, the money you spent migrating to New Zealand or Australia is worthwhile, because at the end of the day your kids can enjoy free education and free health.

Thanks for the info. Please; (1) what is usually the cost of living in NZ say for 3months ie amount needed for upkeep? (2) how much is required as per account statement for Visa approval? (3) is vacancy/placement always available to run the '2-month' Competency Assessment Program - CAP? (4) are there always vacancies for RN in NZ like USA and UK? Thanks in anticipation.
Any luck with this yet? does any one know who can hlelp?
raphok1: Good Evening Fam. Please does anyone know about this stage in the new NMC UK process? I want to know if one still has to contact NMCN for this "Regulator verification". I already contacted them (with the 17,500 naira payment) during the earlier "qualification Regulator verification" and "evaluation". Pls I need an explanation. Thanks
barbiee: @sumbzie78, @babyyo8, @cyrilade01, @Yugotee I sent you CBT materials as requested.
About the licence verification as an intern Nurse, I spoke to NMC uk about this issue recently and they said you can start your UK registration as soon as you pass your Nursing council exam. However, I have come to understand that NMCN might not want to send your license verification immediately you finish school but I'm not entirely sure if NMCN will refuse to give NMC UK your records when they request for it so it is worth a try, you can also try to get a letter from your school to claim that you have passed the Nursing council exam if NMCN refuse to send your verification and see if that makes a difference. If that doesnt work then my advice would be to start studying for and Writing the IELTS exam in the meantime.
If you want to be a midwife in the UK, you need to register for CBT midwifery, midwifery jobs are hard to get but not impossible, there are also few study materials Available for CBT midwifery. Unfortunately I dont have any. If anyone has materials for CBT midwifery please send them to me too. Thanks in advance.
If you did the 18 months Nursing program and you want to be an Adult Nurse in the UK, you only need to verify your 18 months Nursing qualification. You also need to inform NMCN and your school to send a letter to NMC UK saying your 18 months nursing program qualifies you to be a Registered Nurse.
@chuksozy if you have the funds then in my opinion relocating with your family at the same time is a good idea. Apart from the fact that you get everything done together as a family e.g visa, flights, gp registration etc, your wife will be more stable mentally to deal with the pressures of a new workplace and a new lifestyle. Living in a new country can be very stressful, intimidating and lonely. Avoid it if you can.
@MrsAnn thank you for defending @Bluebeard, you couldn't have said it better. We are all here to learn and mistakes are inevitable, I'm also learning from you guys here and most of the comments I read are enough to see me smiling through the day. I expecially laughed loud and long when bluebeard called vickyehi an auxiliary. I was like "what? You did not just say that!" Anyway, Thank you vicky for your diplomatic and intelligent answers and thank you @Auschris for clearing that misconception about Avant. It is nice to see you back on the thread.
Happy Nurses week to all the friends I haven't met yet, that includes you too! Please Stay safe during this pandemic.
Good evening ma. Please can you send the CBT material to me?

My wife is an Australian registered nurse who is in need of her Certificate of good standing from The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria as she was a registered nurse in Nigeria before she relocated to Australia.
Can someone help me with any link to get this certificate of Good standing sent to Australia within the shortest possible time frame.
@iyaejima please I am a Registered Nurse in Nigeria and will soon Relocate to Manitoba via PNP soon, as our PR awaits Approval
Please I am lost in the process, I saw your write-ups and response to some key issues,
I am an RN with BNsc from Nigeria please I need your guide.
1) I have been told to apply for Both LPN and RN evaluation from NNAS to enable me work as LPN while I wait for the outcome of Manitoba Licensure process which someone told me it might take forever.
2) I was also told to pay for NNAS RN and LPN evaluation to report to be sent to Province like Ontario or New Brunswick because I might get it lots faster there and convert to Manitoba License when I am done.
Please guide me I need a sincere assistance and seeing you are in Manitoba give me a great pleasure to hear from you. Please here is my what's app number and email. I will like to keep on touch forever
I beg to disagree with this info cuz I am practising in Manitoba. Even with the merger (which is only within one health region (and only in the ER and ICU depts which Nigerian nurses hardly go to) leaving other specialty areas in this region and other health regions free of this your allegation, there are still nursing positions open every single day and people are still getting employed. The college (and not board) doesn’t delay applications (evaluations come from NNAS by the way, You apply to the college after NNAS and people hear back from the college within 5-7days at the latest). People delay themselves because it takes them forever to come up with the exam fee, pick an exam date and prep for their competence exam. Need I add that many IENs are scared of the exam and spread rumours around instead. I remember people telling me it was the hardest exam ever and if I listened to them and prepared eternally, I may never have gathered the courage to write it. So please be very objective when you advise people.

For UK, you can go for the 2 years pre-registration masters program which leads to registration wi th NMC UK. Apply to schools that offer the course
