Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, leading all others as usual.

He first opened terminal classes in July when all others were uncertain and looking at where the wind will blow. He had set the date for school resumption for Sept 21 over a month ago.

God has blessed Oyo State with a visionary leader. Nobody should come mention party here o.

The governor cannot possibly be serious. Hopefully he is just fishing for comments. Most schools have over-crowded classes and hostels/dormitories. They can not implement social distancing if all the students resume.
He is serious.
To a large extent we have been able to build immunity against covid 19.also treatment has improved sufficiently with above 90percent recovery rate.
More efforts should rather be geared towards preventing other strains from coming into the country.
That's why I am rather not pleased with the international flights to resume soon.
I doubt appropriate measures will be adhered to.

state institutions like LASU will have to resume since it's under the jurisdiction of Lagos State Government
Does this mean FG school like unilag will have to wait for FG directives and not resume in Sept 14??

Nope.
Tertiary institutions in all States(state owned and FG) are controlled by FMoE.
State Government can only control primary and Secondary Schools.
In this Context of resumption.

how will you open schools and let state workers remain at home I question this your decision Mr Governor. Banks are partially opened making things pretty difficult for customers, state workers below level 12 are at home, churches are still on 50% attendance, transportation is still high for the common man, bars, lounge and others you still close down. please, it's better you open the while sectors and not risk the lives of students.
What are you saying sir?
So students should die of depression at home.

6months plus at home and you are asking why will they open school?
Lemme reserve my comment sir.

Watch as FG will soon rush to announce that tertiary institutions all over the country will resume by end of September in the "final stage of easing of lockdown"

FG always follows Lagos Government footsteps, as far as this Covid matter is involved.

feel free to aire your opinion provided you don't rain insults. before I got admission into the university, I stayed over 6 months due to Nationwide ASUU strike caused by government at a time when there was no pandemic....it was only UniIlorin that opened because they opted out of ASUU. as a matter of fact, with the population of students choked in some schools, how do we practice social distance? how prepared are the school authorities in terms of putting hygienic measures? the only issue I wish the school to be opened a long time ago would have been for the sake of the private school teachers.

So what are u saying? They should close the school when it's obvious its all a scam.

Was it not Ikeja computer village we saw a clips of a captured thief recently. With the crowd in computer village and the nonsense you just write here. I would say I'm disappointed in you Seun.

We see the covid report everyday. Comparing it to worst hit country shows naija is not even close to hit not to say worst hit. And this worst hit countries with over 1OO-5OO deaths in a day not 2 or 4 deaths we get recently, still go about majority of normal day activities. Numbers of people discharge everyday is more than the contracted. And you are here say nonsense.

With the conditions coro has left majority and th e obvious scam our politicians use to handle the issue, politically manipulated. I could curse anyone that support the scam.

Coro is an airborne virus. With the rate at which crowded places like markets operate everyday, if coro is really in the air dead bodies would have been uneasy to count.

Sometimes, when I see some comments, I juz weak. So, because of crowd and overpopulation, schools should forever be on hold? Like you people forget that social distancing, use of sanitizers, use of face/nose masks are binary opposite. It is because it is not only humanly possible to observe all that there are options to choose from. Were schools to resume now, I very much know that pupils and students will not only wear protective masks but will wash hands at intervals and the school will see to fumigation either after school hours or very early in the morning. The lack of critical reasoning or laziness to think outside the box is limiting us in this country. Where this is good news to many, to you, it is how to observe social distancing that is your concern. Nigeria, I hail thee

You are not making sensible points. How do they practice social distance in the markets? Have u see increase in number of conracted in last two months the markets have opened.

Don't say u don't see the video clip of the recent thief in computer village. No school is as crowded as the computer village in Ikeja.

I think FG has told them to resume before, FG said they should resume when they can provide the precaution measures.

The issue seems to be the final say of the state government.

What?

So because he owns nairaland we keep quite to Seun unreasonable and unremorseful comments.
This is a major Nigeria problem. The citizens prefer to be oppressed and suffered in silence than challenge the people in control.

I challenge him, Seun, your comment is annoyingly ridiculous. Though, you are entitled to your opinion but your unremorseful opinion is a very bad one.

Welcome development from the coro- governor. At least he got this one right. If market places can be opened without restrictions, schools likewise should be good enough to reopen. We all know we are in God's hands in naija. Let the students continue their education.

I just believe persons with something to fall back on or receive at the end of the month are not entirely bothered about the obvious bleak future this prolonged extension and closure will have. I not talking about immediate effects but years to come, how to explain that rather than do the needful and Carry on with basic human activities, we chose to lockdown and risk disaster
