I mean 'studyinnorway.no' didn't give me the information I was looking for.
'free-apply.com' did. I think that's another way to get info about schools in Norway like you said.
I searched studyinnorway.no for food and nutrition and got nothing. When I searched free-apply.com I got 6 schools offering the programme.
Arinze01:

I don't get your message, Ma'am. Pls explain explicitly. To access Norway's University, one is to use www.studyinnorway.no

Wow!!I'm in a state of awe. I don't want to sound ignorant, hence I decided to check the stated website. It looks authentic. . I remember the saying" there are different ways to kill a bird"and you just showed us one. Did you ensure to check your preferred school website to see if truly their(free-apply) information is correct? I tried with my intended course, kinda different and cumbersome. Subjectively, I'll stick with the known, approved website..

If you're cool with it and you saw what u needed, no lele. All way na way!

Ensure to mail the school to get more information.

No one here has a say or can predict application outcome. We only advise and guide. But if your undergraduate courses aligns with the intended MSC academic requirements and equals the needed ECTS, then you should apply.

My advise is to apply to all schools that matches your bsc requirements and hope for the best. You could be lucky - and note that high cgpa isn't the only determinant to being accepted for MSC studies in Norway. There are other considerations like ECTS requirements et al.

Aim for the moon(all) and if you miss you could be among the stars(receive admission to one or 2 perhaps).

Immense luck!!

Thanks that was so so encouraging
I'll aim for the best

@ Dumebi213

I was going to let him know that. He should not get too excited about selecting a "yeye course."

@ trinityconcept, what do you originally plan on studying and not your "yeye course" backup program?? Let me help you find out how many other applicants you may likely be competing against.

Please how can one find out how competitive a course can be

.

For your programme or courses, there are number of students needed per course(like mine is 10,I have seen 15,the highest I've seen is 25 per specialization). Do the maths,10 students only would be accepted across all countries. From my analysis, I feel each continent is apportioned a quota. So imagine how competitive it would be, high number of individuals jostling for 10,25 slots due to its tuition free.

Like in Sweden, you could check how many people that applied for a course and the acceptance rate for the course, that I'm not sure of in Norway.

Don't let this deter you,be hopeful and tenacious!

I did biochemistry first degree,
I want to apply for public health or global health

But if that will be very competitive I don't mind going for biotechnology or biochemistry msc.

According to the statistics,

For Public Health @ NTNU in 2018 - 491 people applied, 105 was offered admission, 75 accepted while only 60 met for the start of studies. In 2019 - 359 people applied, 55 was offered admission, 50 accepted while only 40 met for the start of studies.

For Global Health in 2018 - 431 people applied, 40 was offered admission, 35 accepted while only 20 met for the start of studies. In 2019 - 537 people applied, 65 was offered admission, 40 accepted while only 25 met for the start of studies.

For Global Health @ University of Bergen in 2017 - 540 people applied, 55 was offered admission, 35 accepted while only 20 met for the start of studies. In 2018 - 754 people applied, 60 was offered admission, 35 accepted while only 20 met for the start of studies. In 2019 - 613 people applied, 70 was offered admission, 45 accepted while only 30 met for the start of studies.

For Biotechnology @ NTNU in 2017 - 251 people applied, 25 was offered admission, 15 accepted while only 15 met for the start of studies. In 2018 - 336 people applied, 40 was offered admission, 20 accepted while only 20 met for the start of studies. In 2019 - 438 people applied, 35 was offered admission, 25 accepted while only 20 met for the start of studies.

1) your sponsor can be anywhere, not necessarily Norway. A Nigerian ( uncle, aunt etc) can be your sponsor.

2)you need both a letter of sponsorship from your sponsor and your sponsor's bank statement.

3)in your 2nd year, you're to show a proof of fund like the way you did in your 1st year but you ain't blocking anything unlike the 1st year. A student job can sustain you in Norway if you live a prudent life.

You said earlier that you mailed their Embassy. Prolly wait for their response. I don't want to sound discouraging but from previous threads, they hardly give visa to Bsc applicants. Just chill for their reply. Most folks here are MSC applicants.

PS: UiS application opening date is Dec 1st- Jan 1st. Take note

There is a Norwegian C, C+ , and C- ....also, any GPA from 3.3/5 is a Norwegian C... there is actually a way to convert it just like German - Nigerian GPA conversion.... I do not have the format though... hope this helps...

@ Dumebi213, Arinze01 and fellow prospective applicants. Check the statistics for higher education in Norway including the number of applicants for your interested courses, number of people offered admission and other statistics at https://dbh.nsd.uib.no/ (use on chrome browser so it can be translated to english)

Hope this valuable information helps you have an idea of the acceptance rate of your interested courses.

Do not let the number of applicants and acceptance rate dampen your spirit. Also, do not forget that not everyone granted admission eventually accepts the admission therefore you definitely stand a chance in your choice course.

As Arinze01 earlier said, no one here has a say or can predict application outcome. Just apply to all schools that matches your bsc requirements and hope for the best. You should be amongst the lucky ones granted admission.

All the best guys...

Thanks for the link. Schools applications plummeted this year even mine was so so low compared to previous years... Take a look at NMBU business Dept, just 8 people applied.

My guess, it would be lower for year 2021(which is ours).let's apply and be positive

Morale high! God take control!!

@ Arinze01

See as i dey look you with side eye.. Do not be deceived!! Thats not the final statistics for 2020.

How can just 8 people apply out of the usual number of thousands?? The data will be coming out little by little as the schools just reopened. Also dont forget that this year is a peculiar year as a result of the corona virus. Many students may not be able to make it down to Norway until beginning of second semester. Some schools have announced first semester will be taken online. Therefore the data on those that met for studies will definitely be impacted.

Year 2020 final statistics should be updated in November. In the mean time, work with the years preceeding 2020.

Hi, that's not my point ... You wanted to know the acceptable GPA...it doesn't mean anything less than the above GPA won't get in... You just need to do your research.. and don't give up on your dream of having your masters in Norway ok... Very good motivational letter is also a plus...
