Jesus shared the privilege (glory) of being a partaker during creation {Proverbs 8:22-31} so he was praying to his father and God {John 20:17} to help him achieve his earthly assignment in the midst of those unbelievers!
So before God transformed Jesus into an embryo in the womb of a virgin Jewish girl, Jesus was one of God's mighty spirit sons in heaven!

To be sure if angels are the ones God's word was talking about as his sons, please confirm the Genesis account as Peter and Jude later revealed their Identity! 1Peter 3:19-20: 2Peter 2:4; Jude 6

So Jesus was one of Jehovah's (obedient) spirit sons in heaven before coming to the earth!

The angels are already God's sons as you can see in the cited scriptures but none of them qualifies to serve as God's human Son like Adam {Luke 3:38} so Jesus is the only spirit son of God that was given that privilege of serving as God's son both in heaven and on earth, that's why the Bible compared him to Adam! 1Corinthian 15:45

But as for the angels, they are God's spirit sons! Genesis 6:1; Job 1:6,38:7

Look at verse 36 in particular, did Jesus call himself the “Almighty God” or “God's Son”?.

Israel was symbolically called God's son as were the peacemakers. Believers are "sons of God" or "children of God" by faith in Christ.

The Jews have problem with Jesus calling himself the Son of God (because he possesses the very nature of God and not a son in the literal sense)---> The Jews answered him, “We have a law, and by that law he ought to die, because he has made himself the Son of God.”
