oga if you don't know how insurance works, you ask questions. "Ordinary"3rd party motor insurance on vehicle cover damages to properties and loss of lives.
Loss of lives?
grin grin grin
It is obvious you have never dealt with insurance.
Insurance companies actually love ignorant customers.

Recall that when Gov Babajide Sanwo-Olu visited the crash site of last Friday helicopter crash at Opebi, he had promised to repair the fence destroyed by the crash. See photos as repair work is being done
How this take concern government is what I don't know, that chopper has an insurance, the insurance company should be the one responsible for everything and all things connected to the accident.
That property owner would have gotten better cash from the company and that money would have come in dollars as well.

That is not how insurance work.
They don't cover every damages, they cover the
specific ones covered by the specific policy.

If there is any insurance at all, it will be life insurance for the pilot
and maybe another on the crashed helicopter.
Go and find out about aviation insurance,if you are still confuse read more about Dana crash at iju and the legal battle one of the house owners had with Dana and their Insurer.

The fact that the house owner had to legally fight Dana is instructive.

"Aviation insurance" is just a catchword.
There are various kind of aviation insurance with different degrees of policy coverage.

Sometimes I wonder what would be going through the mind of FORMER GOVERNOR. T. A. ORJI of ABIA state when he gets to meet with GOVERNORS like Dave Umahi, Amaechi, Chime, Dankwanbo, Fashola...?
Absolutely nothing is going through his mind.

As far as he is concerned he is the best governor ever since the earth was made.

Aviation insurance is always comprehensive, most especially when it is civil.
The insurance covers the Aircraft, the Passengers and crew and the Damages done on the ground.
The premium are paid in dollars and usually underwrite by international insurance conglomerate.
There is something fishy about that particular incident, there is something they are trying to cover up for government to move in and take responsibility for something completely out of their orbit

On what basis plz?

I meant no harm sir. Just asking to improve my knowledge.
I responded to the point that insurance company will not step in to cover losses.

If they refuse to cover losses then arbitration can step in.

Openbusiness:
It is Govt job to intervene because they are a party to those that gave that helicopter licence and authorization to fly. A good Govt must run its governance affairs with a good conscience.
They also licensed dangote trucks, danfo vans. As many times as trailers crash or danfo crash in Lagos and destroy properties, LASG need to step in and repair damages. Do you disagree?

The fact that the helicopter was grounded by the authorities nullifies the insurance policy and absolves the insurance company of liability!
I did verify your claims Sir. But Government intervention does not absolve insurance companies of the liability to settle genuine claim that is under their scope.
