I graduated from Uniben it wasn't easy but I did ok... If you want to do exceptionally in Uniben you should be passionate about you course, understand your department and lecturers.

[color=#000099][/color]who knows about physics department here in uniben, only me use 7years to finish a 4years course the result just they oneside I weak sef anytime I dey pass that main gate I always remove my face and in my mind I dey lay courses for the school head, e pain me I swear.

In my 200lv I tried to balance my life but I got my first carry over in a course not because I failed but because the omr machine couldn't grade my answer sheet. I was so frustrated at second semester same 200lv I tried my best to cover up for my first semester results but it's only got worst my total cgpa in 200lv is 3.4 might be probably because of a position I held in my department and what annoyed me most was some of my friends who I teach and help in exam halls got a very good grade than me, I felt really down and got to understand it's not just by jacking and night class oh just know your way like most of my course mates do and your grades might be ok.


I just currently resumed 300lv with a strong reading spirit before this corona came and spoil everything now I'm at home and it seems have lost that sense of me being a bright student because it doesn't show in my result and I'm even scared I might not graduate with a 2.1 I'm studying statistics crushing the maths isn't easy.

So op I know exactly how you feel

Exactly bro, it's man-made. What we beg God to help us do in Nigeria is what their government has done for its citizens and still breaking new grounds. That's to say the quality of our government is very low.

Great uniben! I can't really relate.
But I know for certain, there are some departments that would make you feel that way, mainly because of the nature of the lecturers and teaching style.
For example Education is synonymous with missing scripts. How do you expect one not to get frustrated.
There are some lecturers that would want to deliberately fail students.
That's why I love Engineering. You get what you write.
I partied throughout university. Womanized and all, skipped a lot of classes, I still made a 4.48
In fact I would have made a first class, if I hadn't been more unserious during my final year, for which I regret.
Yes I did read, and was naturally an above average student.
Bottom line, put in your best, and hope for the best.
Also try understand what works, those that do better than you , try liasing with them to understand better how to get better grades.
In the end, as you might later realize, grades don't matter much depending on what you hope to pursue, but get the best grades you can as it could potentially open ways for you.
If you can make a first class , please do
If you can make a 2.1 , please do
Just do your best.
Lastly , dont forget to skill up. Get a digital skill
A university certificate is not just enough these days.

Uniben na craze school.

I have seen someone that had First Class in 100 and 200 level, and finally graduated with 2-2 after four years.

Crazy school.

na God save me. They turned my 4.73 CGPA to 4.44 in 400 level.
They demolished it with cutlass.

I prayed like a mad prophet, read very hard and followed up all my exams with the lecturers before I could escape with 4.60 as final grade in 500 level.

You must be the problem..as an Alumni of Unibest I found my bearing after that great experience 10 years ago of the university passing through me which consequently has taken me around the world. So go figure out what's your problem?

Quit being negative, bro. With Allah and hardwork, nothing is impossible.

In all being said.. This thread should not scare the upcoming ones but serve as a way to advice those coming into the school.. Uniben is not all that bad it's just not easy to go through that place without getting a fair share of the wahala. It's just to do your best and try not to lose concentration

Baba anybody way graduate 2.1 in statistics or mathematics in any public uni is a genius. Mathematics graduates in absu 2016 set, nobody graduated with 2.2 . na third class and pass.
Anybody way dey study maths pls respect am. When I did one of dIA course ordinary differential equation. I start to respect dem. To even find mercenary way go write am dey hard. Few ppl way know wetting dem dey do were all booked, while some no dey free write for ppl.

I started 100l with high hopes of a first class only for me to "secure" my very first CO in 3 courses for first semester alone o . I came from a polytechnic where i finished with a distinction. I had to rewrite jamb cos i wanted nursing but was given one life science course instead. I guess my hatred for the course contributed greatly to my failure in first semester 100l.
Fast forward to second semester, i aced all my courses with a 3.8 CGPA having no CO.

In 200l first semester, i got 4.64 cos i was determined to transfer to nursing...i also aced the three CO courses..then in second semester i made a 4.21 before i bought transfer form to nursing.


Moral: just read and pray then watch God do HIS thing.

I can totally relate bro.
Fail more than six credits = Probation.
It wasn't easy, I had a lot of friends who had to transfer to physical sciences. Some were advised to withdraw.
That law changed a lot of academic destinies.
The funny thing is, it didn't matter how you failed to account for the six credits, if you failed , got a missing script, or an error on the part of the collation. You'd face probation.
I had a Friend, brilliant girl, First semester as freshmen, She had 6A's 1B 1F.
I'm pretty sure the F was a mistake. She cried her eyes out as she could possibly face probation should there be another F.
Well, long story short, Her parents took her abroad to school. And yes she banged a first class and still graduated before me
I regretted at a time not leaving the country to restart undergrad during my undergraduate days.
My friends that did so, even up till 400 level, some did leave for the US. They are all doing well.

I was far far far more intelligent than my elder brother right from childhood till we entered universities. I was always the star pupil and intelligent one in the family while he lagged behind.
He went to Covenant varsity and I went to Uniben. He finished with a high 2.1, almost to get first class, while I finished with 2.2 in Uniben, after having an extra year . Department of medical sciences.

Op I can relate to this. Thank God I survived at last. If you graduate successfully then give glory to God. The stress in Nigeria Universities will only contribute to your redundant capacity. It is tougher at there than you ever imagine before gaining admission to study whatever course. Like someone said up there, when you know your way things become easy. There is huge malpractice in the system, even in your department, unknown to you but some of your course mates are aware and taking advantage of it. But which is not good. Are we to talk about the issue of favouritism? Do you know some Lecturers have students they favour through out in the aspect of results? That's a story for another day. The University is a different world entirely.

This is unfortunate, but true. A friend of mine, back in the day, graduated with 3rd Class from FUTO. Do you know that when his parents sent him to the UK to do his Masters, this dude won the award of the best graduating student in aeronautical engineering and was offered a lecturing job at the same time by the university? He is now an associate professor in the UK. Someone FUTO managed to give a 3rd class o!
