I have been hearing people saying this but I never believed, I used to think those people are just finding excuses for their failure. Now it has happened to me.

We applied for advertised jobs at the Oyo State Hospital Management Board around November last year, qualified applicants wrote CBT around February this year. The results were out around March and people who failed and passed were able to see/check their result one way or the other.

Now, wen the list for shortlisted candidates for interview was pasted just last week, it was not up to 10-20% of the people that passed. It became obvious that only connection worked here.

My question now is that, is this how we are going to continue in this country?

What exactly is the future of youths in Nigeria?

For how long are we going to remain this way?

Kindly share your experience if you have passed through a situation like this either on State or Federal level, I would also appreciate other people that applied, passed and denied employment in Oyo State Hospital Management Board to buttress this. I don't want to keep quiet because our silence keep making things worse in this country.

Below is the list of people that passed in my department. I'll upload the few list for the final shortlisted candidates next to it, just 18 people.
Apologies to anyone who might not like his or her name published, but I just have to do this, we can't continue this way in this country.

It is not new that Nigeria is not a place to be interms of searching for jobs, intact Nigeria is not the best place to be to be sincere.

Everything in this country has become man know man, I read this week about keeping just a 3month jobs slot for governors, house of rep and other politicians and I was this is serious.

Everytime I have an opportunity to wake up, what I see is a failed country that can never move forward matter how they try.

I created a thread about how I was rejected cor a job just because I'm a Catholic in a christian faith based organisation, I got alot of bashing and insult that I was lie.

The problem is that alot of people will always doubt you until it happened to them before they can believe you.

We know that the level corruption and nepotism when it comes to selection of candidates in exams (schools, military e.t.c) is very high.

I actually don't think this is a problem that will go away very soon.

It was during this Covid-19 period that I know that even an ordinary bank door security is just as corrupt as the politicians we blame everyday.

Those times before you even sit for the CBT exam, they got their 80% candidates already and they got their 20% after the exam, while you were there waiting for result, the connector connecters were already bribing people they know.

Same applies to university admission too, na so LASU show me pepper even with my 71% overall percentage for ordinary Mass communication yet those with lower percentage were admitted.
I had to apply for a federal university for the following year before finally admitted.

But OP, test score is not the only criteria that an employer considers.
Others factors like:
Specific Skills Sets,
Work experience (the most important),
Education and Credentials,
Social/Public/Criminal records are also considered.

But laslas we go dey upright....

The 10-20% was only a cover up to justify the credibility of the recruitment, left to them they want to give out all the slots to their people. May God airpus

I'm not surprised. My friend's sister got FIRS job with her Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) through a letter of recommendation from a serving minister. No test nor interview was conducted, she only went for documentation.

No merit again in this country thats why their is no development and the country is the way it is..allow the merit candidate....then Connection can come later,thats how its soppose to be...there was a country

Ladies got it easier. Smart ones find ways to get married before 25. The ones in denial about the reality called Nigeria keep living on false hopes until at 30, no decent job and prospect of marriage dwindles exponentially. Then depression sets in bringing more wrinkles to the face. Then they have to compete with those who were 14 and now 20.

Useless corrupt officials in Nigeria. If you don't have money to buy a job in Nigeria, just go and be doing multi level marketing ( MLM)., No matter the weight of your credentials or qualifications. All government jobs are bought simple. 800,000 naira for job in ministry of Agriculture. Except if you have a God father, or you are coming with a " name". And we are fighting corruption.
