I'm twenty, or close enough to make no matter. never been to the university before. I started learning coding at 15 without a laptop.
This year I got an internship position at Genesys tech hub, and a job I never applied for from another company. Learn a skill now cos you'll likely question the essence of your education later.

Nice one bro, congrats on the internship. I’m still in the learning phase of coding(front end dev).hopefully I get a job(remote) after i have better knowledge and skills.

why will it not be miseducation when we have decided to live like animals and the theories and skills learnt in class can not be applied in the real world in Nigeria because there is no law and order. A political scientist for instance is supposed to be an asset to civil society because they are equipped with the skills to crunch data and make projections about political power dynamics - real numbers, not empty grammar or guess work, and advice the government and even politicians on what to do to increase their rate of success

My dear,if I talk more we go de cry. SA primary schools r doing coding, where I am living, they are doing Java in secondary schools. The issue is that we have many leaders that lack vision and that is what is affecting their mission n as long as we don't get it right in education, we can't move forward. Education is beyond going to school n writing examination. In fact many countries now take examination on optional basis because going to school is not competition but to complement one another

My brother, make he no shock u. Many mechanic I don't mean road side the ones that learnt the types of cars are doing very well them the pose who read mechanical engineering in school. Many of the courses will pride ourselves him as graduate her gradually eroding away because our system doesn't appreciate literates. Check all ministers and their portfolios n u will see the big gaps in what they handling n what they are doing. Everything in Nigeria is politicize in a negative way. Imagine how ASUU n FG are playing with students' future,state government and doctors will always be fighting etc. God will help us with common sense

10years ago, while my parents where giving me and my bros money for school fees, they paid for shool fees and other fees, while i saved mine 4 years later they graduated and i told my family i have 2 extra years, they paid more fees and i saved it , i was also doing business by the side. 3 years ago, i summed up all the cash and travelled to europe. today, one of my bro earns 120 to 150k, the other one is jobless. they all depend on me for support. now i am a millionaire and i am going back to school like a don.

This is one of the biggest challenges with the Nigerian society and education. We groom kids with just book and not try to ensure all round development. He should be invited by the university and the certificate retrieved from him.

May be you should look around you very well before you conclude like that because I know what you meant. Nigerian environment is too harsh, no opportunity, no nothing. Did our universities even equip graduates with the right skills and knowledge suitable for our environment?
