Hello Nairalanders pls I need u guys advice as I'm about to get My first car and it's a MERCEDES-BENZ CLK 320 AVANTGARDE 1999 model V6 Foreign used, I need advice on d car before I proceed to pay d dealer his money,but my problem now is that d car is a right hand drive (RHD) Manual drive and am planning to convert it back to LHD, I hope there are good mechanic that can do dis for me in Lagos without me having issues on the car thereafter.
I will sincerely appreciate every response and experience pertaining to my issue pls.

Anyways, Ur choice of trim is nice.
Same engine with C-class.
Better interior aesthetic than the E-class
Next to AMG.
U are good to go...but I have issue with the age of the car.

EXCUSE THE CONDITION OF THE CAR. JUST CAME BACK FROM A 200 MILE TRIP TO TEMPLE. arrived feeling refreshed because car did most of the driving for me, was comfortable and gave me 26.3MPG for the trip. Didn't even need to stretch when I got out. There were 7 of us in the car and the only complaint was from the 6' 4" 17 year old in the back seat when we were on bumpy off road. I dont know who would be looking to buy a N10m+ car because of 21 inch screen or input sources, when even a 2001 mdx can have those features with many after market units and android screens.

Comfort
Handling

And those are the important categories where I expected you to tell me where the MDX beats the 550 not in the screen size.
The only things you can Max out in any MDX are comfort/ convenience features , onboard entertainment and a few other "minute features like you called them. No maxing out can turn an MDX to a 550.

Mercedes has 13 different classes and over 65 models, are you sure you've had all ?

For the record, I would pick a 2008 mdx over a 2008 ml 550,

Now that I have more time on my hands I'll address fully why I said the Acura is a better car.

Regarding the entertainment system you were mocking whether it was 18 inch or 9 inch, it's both. It's an 18 inch widescreen with the ability to split into two 9 inch screen with dual outputs including HDMI.

Performance
The only place the Mercedes ekes it out because it has more horses and torque out of the gate HOWEVER, it is heavier and it doesn't really translate to gain in the real world which is another statement I made that you mocked. In real world, it struggles to beat the MDX and I'm not even talking about when in sport mode. I used to use that a lot in my RDX but haven't had to in my MDX.

Safety
while I prefer the MDX i will call this a tie. They have almost identical safety features but I find HOW they are applied in the Acura to be more useful in the real world. I actually changed the settings of some of the safety features (something you can't do in the Mercedes I might add) because I found them over zealous and preventing me from some things I wanted to do don't ask.

Interior/ Exterior Styling
The Mercedes has the trademark look which I find a little boring and was actually one of the things that led me to start looking at other brands some years back. I like more modern looks and am tired of woodgrain. That being said, the QUALITY of the materials in the Mercedes are definitely going to be a little better than in the Acura.

Comfort

Sorry but I'm a fast, nimble driver and find the Acura's seat hugs me better when cornering. Also, I love the heated AND cooled seats that come on driver AND passenger side (which you CANNOT get on the Mercedes though you can add heated rear seats to the Mercedes that come with the Acura). And guess what, it's STANDARD on my package and costs a lot less than with the Mercedes. Guess what also comes standard on the MDX? REMOTE START. Another thing I love is the USB ports and the full power outlet (useless in Nigeria though). Only thing I miss on the Acura that's on the Mercedes (as an option) is power folding mirrors.

Handling
Hands down the Acura is more nimble than the Mercedes and has a better turning radius than most SEDANS. The Mercedes also has noticeably more body roll. until you feel the rush weaving around it's heavier, less nimble counterpart while it's owner's jaw drops in envy you won't understand

Tell me if our roads have given you issues with the Airmatic suspension DEFINITELY A PROBLEM WITH THE MERCEDES ML550 AND WHY WE NO LONGER HAVE ONE

Tell me how long before you needed to replace them IT'S A CRAPSHOOT

Tell me how reliable your turbo has been ALSO ANOTHER NEGATIVE IN THIS COUNTRY WITH THE FUEL WE HAVE EVEN WITH OCTANE BOOSTERS

Tell me if the 400 hp has been enjoyable and actually useable MAYBE ON LEKKI EPE-EXPRESSWAY AT 1AM. but the ability of the MDX has DEFINITELY been useful in getting out of all situations.

BOTTOM LINE WHY I, A FORMER MERCEDES BABY'S LAST THREE VEHICLES HAVE BEEN ACURAS IS TO MATCH ALL THE FEATURES YOU GET ON THE ACURA, YOU WILL PAY A LOT MORE FOR THE MERCEDES BUT NOT GET THE SAME VALUE FOR WHAT YOU PAID.
MY WHOLE FAMILY HAS BEEN MAKING THE SHIFT. WITH MY PARENTS VEHICLES IN THE LAST TWO YEARS BEING A 2018 LANDCRUISER, A 2019 LX570 AND A 2018 HIGHLANDER. MY UNCLE (CURRENT OWNER OF A G-WAGON) GOT A TESLA AND PREFERS IT. HE IS ALSO CURRENTLY CONSIDERING AN RDX FOR A RUNAROUND CAR. THE G-WAGON IS GATHERING DUST. WE ARE ALSO ADDING A 2017-2019 MDX FOR MY MOM BECAUSE AGAIN, SHE LOOKED AT THE MERCEDES AND PREFERRED THE MDX. SAME WITH MY DAD WHEN HE BOUGHT THE OTHER TWO[/b]
