Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos Ahead of the September 19 governorship election in Edo State, there appears to be tension at the head quarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as national commissioners whose tenures are due to end in a few weeks from now are jostling to be in the good books of the reappointing authorities. https://www.independent.ng/office-lobby-at-inec-may-affect-edo-ondo-polls/

The implication of this is that anybody with a PVC can vote without the rigour of authentication, even if the Smart Card Reader is unable to match the bearer of the PVC with the data or biometrics, since the commission may not deploy the z-Pad for the Edo and Ondo elections A credible free and fair election is alien to the current leadership of INEC and waiting for it to organize one is like waiting for Godot. You go wait tire 12 Likes 1 Share |

Credible sources in the commission said in order to achieve their aims of being reappointed, some of the national commissioners are “loosening the procedural bolts that may engender a free and fair election”.So they want to change the course of 2 whole states, just because they want to be retained for another tenure at INEC! So they wanna do all it takes to scuttle the result of the election!? Which kind country be dis sef! Sometimes you only marvel at what you read 5 Likes 3 Shares |

I don't see anything independent about them the head is appointed by a politician the commissioners are appointed by a politician and their budget approved by the politicians so how can they run as an independent body no way. The level of interference in recent times is unprecedented and some of us have completely lost hope in INEC. 3 Likes |
